Installed a lot of updates and now FS will not start?

Recommended Posts

I just installed a lot of updates from the Marketplace and now FS crashes to the desktop as soon as it loads.

Can you open the Content Manager or does it crash before you get to that point? If you can open the Content Manager than you can start uninstalling the recent downloads to see it that helps.

Do you also have addons in your Community folder? If so there may be a conflict between one of those addons and one of your recent MP downloads. To check for that, rename you Community folder to back it up and then create a new, empty Community folder. Then restart the sim and see if it still crashes.

If you do have addons in the Community folder, I think I'd start with the empty Community folder test first to see if an addon in there is causing your problem. Renaming the Community folder and creating a new empty one is a quick and easy test.

I did about 15 updates all at once last week with no issues.  Maybe it is 1 particular update.

Try rebooting before restarting.

Are you using Process Lasso? Out of the blue MSFS wouldn't even get past the splash screen for me. Been using PL since my P3D days with no issue. However after stopping it MSFS worked as before again.

1) If you were using Addon Linker, then it would be easier to check which item in community is causing the sim not to get past the 'checking' for updates screen. Sometimes it the order that you put them into community that makes the difference.

2) If you find the threads about how to force sim to boot into Safe Mode, instead of normally, then MSFS will boot and you can get into content manager to disable some of the addons.

By the way I had the exact same issue today. Number 1) allowed MSFS to start booting up now. When I was in the Beta, Number 2) allowed MSFS to boot (I had to get rid of a Cessna plane in Content Manager, (The C195 by Asobo/Carenado).

Is this on PC or Xbox? I’ve seen this being talked about a lot on the official forums. Apparently there’s different issues after SU12 one is about cloud date conflicts and another is about maximum number of marketplace items.

Hopefully it will get fixed soon.
