when I hit the MENU button of the default GNS 530, it does exactly absolutely nothing. please show me a screenshot what you see when you hit it.

edit: just found in xplane the MENU button only works if

1) you have a flight plane loaded

2) you are on the FPL page

but is missing all these functions that are normally found on the MENU page:

this is what we should be seeing when pressing the MENU button, but I don't get any of that in x-plane:

Never knew the SOP for a 172 requires it to be flown on AP from takeoff to landing and features a dog to bite any hand that gets near the AP toggle switch while airborne. Learn something new everyday.
