FSDT KIAH Released--Can't Install

Recommended Posts

Product is released.  That's the good news.

The bad news is I can't install it.  It's in the universal installer but it won't install and won't activate the product.

I wonder how this works.

Same here. Looks like it's on the server side.

Yep.  It's not installing.  You would think they'd test this stuff before going prime time!!!!

It's working now. Just extremally slow on the download.

We are testing it but, server issues cannot be tested until...they go live.

In this case, the issue was really silly: a space in a filename that confused the uploader. It's all normal on a release day, when you have to deal with lots of server-related things that won't update all at the same time.

Thanks Umberto.  Downloading as we speak.  Cheers.

Installed just fine for me about 45 mins ago. Maybe a bit slow on the download, but overall it was painless.

I just did a quick drone cam around it and it looks very nice. Great price too!.  Although I would hate to be a guest in one of those hotel rooms😁 Take a look at the preview pics and you will see what I mean.  I think the parallax thing is neat but sometimes it just doesn't look right.  That was the only thing that immediately stuck out to me and looked a bit odd.

It's the only reasonable way to add some details to something would really destroy the fps if we had a real interior. With the parallax method, at least there's some illusion of overall depth, when it matters, when you are flying/taxing, and I think it works best in the cargo areas, where you can see some kind of warehouse inside, even in the most remote areas, with almost zero cost in fps.

Clearly, it will look odd from up close, and especially on the Marriot hotel, since it's not really designed to work on cylindrical object, but I still think it was best than having just a flat reflective texture there. I don't think any scenery ever modeled interiors for the nearby *hotels*, let's hope it won't be a trend...

Oh come on, man! We gotta sleep somewhere after arrival! Need the modeled rooms with beds and hot flight attendants!

If this were a real aviation board vs a sim forum, United HR would 100% have a copy of this post by now and you'd be not only fired, but basically un-hireable at any other decent airline.

I mean, if you want "real as it gets".  😁
