Randazzo commented on the PMDG 737 sales last year. Here is a summary of what I wrote from this post:

And for the PMDG DC6 sales, here is a summary of what I wrote from this post:

Yes, but I doubt any of the PMDG planes would actually be in the top five of best sellers? Maybe now they are on Xbox things might change but my question, just out of interest, remains what is the top selling payware plane and how many units did it sell?

Maybe not by units sold. But by total revenue (that is units x price per unit), I would guess PMDG would be up there for top 5 best sellers in terms of total revenue sold, for MSFS.

Hmmm. Above Carenado in terms of revenue? I'm not so sure. And Carenado have gone very quiet of late. Maybe they've drawn out the cash and are sunning themselves in luxury somewhere?😀

The hype for the release of the 737-900 was quite high. Their servers were brought to their knees when the gates were opened.

Aside from that, I do remember Jorg saying the ATR 72/42 was the fastest selling plane on the marketplace, for what it's worth.

Sarcasm?  If not, why do you think that a vanilla Cessna of Carenado quality would break records?

I love the way some decide the money would be better spent elsewhere. People donate to charities and organizations of their choice. The idea of this MSFS effort was brilliant! Not only did it raise awareness and stimulate international exposure around the world by various social media and major news networks such as CNN World’s biggest plane flies again in Microsoft Flight Simulator but this effort has spawned numerous efforts to raise funding for the same cause!

From the CNN article: “The possibility of attracting funding from various sources is being considered and proposals from many organizations that are ready to join the project are being reviewed.”

As everyone in this forum knows, we are talking about one of the most iconic aircrafts in history that logged hours for numerous humanitarian efforts!

A portion of the funds from the million dollars is also directed to rehousing Antonov employees whose homes were destroyed by the invasion. Funds used in this way are likely life changing. I can’t think of a better use of donated funds!

No matter how positive efforts are, there are members of this forum that decide otherwise! Sometimes unbelievable in my books!

You can disagree.  But calling people "unbelievable" is a little too far.

A steam gauge Cessna by Carenado will sell extremely well. There is a lot of excitement about this one in this and other forums.

Rebuilding the AN-225 is a matter of national pride for the Ukrainians and is moral building.

Bear in mind these aircraft were not accidently destroyed in collateral damage. The Russian paratroopers occupying the airbase went around and placed explosives in these planes and deliberately destroyed them as a sort of "stuff you " to the Ukrainians when they were forced to retreat.

With regard to third party addon sales I recall reading somewhere the Just Flight Arrow hit sale figures in the tens of thousands within weeks of initial release.

I think there is room to support this and official charities. How one does it is an entirely personal choice.

@Paul K You would be correct if there was no money going to humanitarian efforts. To the contrary, billions have been sent for this exact cause from numerous countries (in relation to your top photo). The US alone has sent $3.9 billion to the efforts of food assistance, health care, refugee support, and other humanitarian aid in the past year. How Much Aid Has the U.S. Sent Ukraine? Here Are Six Charts. The million dollars from the MSFS fund raising wouldn’t even show up on a chart. It is about supporting a cause that wouldn’t normally receive an aid package. As Glenn states, the money is perhaps even more symbolic as a moral booster which in many regards is more important in the immediate future.

Mmmm... Dunno.  A2A or Milviz, sure... But Carenado?  And just a 182?  I'm not convinced that's breaking any records... The sim already has several very good steam gauge GA airplanes; I'm not sure why there'd be that much excitement for a mediocre one.  I mean, we all know Carenado.

The money raised and donated by Asobo is admirable - nobody is being 'negative' about that, as you imply. It is a matter of blindingly obvious priorities. The people of Ukraine have far more immediate requirements than a new An-225.

With one million dollars available, this needs to be replaced..

You kind of compleletly missed the point.

since it appears that Microsoft is not earning any money directly in the sales of the AN 225.

Only for the first 12 months. Though they haven't said if after the first 12 months if any % will still go to Antonov.
