scenery on top of scenery?

Featured Replies

Hi all-

Before I think about adding outside scenery, I was thinking about how MSFS handles this.
Does aftermarket scenery load over the top of an existing MSFS scenery without any artifacts?

This was a problem in P3D with a few sceneries not liking this particularly with Orbx airports.

Thanks,

Mark

You'll get bleed through if you have an add on airport like KATL from Asobo and go purchase ImagineSim.  The "fix" would be to disable the Asobo KATL from content manager or vice versa.  ( most prefer Asobo version in that example 🙂 )

I can't answer you question as such, but there is a layering mechanims (similar to the FSX/P3D mechanism) available since approx. a year ago for the case there is trouble. It is available as the last entry under the "Experimental" Options. I have one scenery were I ran into issues and the developer suggested making use of it and it solved the issues.

There is much less need for this, though, as you normally don't have to layer airport addons on top of region addons, as it was the case with the legacy sims.

Kind regards, Michael

You don't really have to think about it at all, except for rare cases (like handmade Asobo airports when you have another 3rd party airport; just delete the Asobo one and done; no manual layering necessary). Overall much easier than in P3D

Newbie question Fiorentoni, how doe you delete and Asobo airport?
In P3D, we could 'deactivate' it.

Delete it from content manager.

Go to content manager, then there are 2 small blue square buttons in the top. Click on the right one. After that just search for the airport ICAO and delete the airport.

The sim loads addon scenery in alphabetical order.  I therefore use prefixes like AA, AB, ZA, ZZ, etc. to ensure my scenery loads in the order I want it to.
