How to copy or transfer joystick settings?

Recommended Posts

I believe they're stored in the cloud.

I use FSUIPC for all of my control assignments, which keeps them in a local file under my control, safe from unruly updates, and transportable.

In the old days of MSFS before the configuration was saved in a cloud there was a folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\

where the configuration was stored everytime you change a setting in the sim.

WZY2lwR.jpg

You could delete the actual files if anything messed up with your joystick settings and use settings from an older date.

But I don't know if its possible today with the cloud.

For Steam users, there are local copies under

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\208453332\1250410\remote

That's for my installation, numbers might differ for others. I am not sure how they are synchronized with the Cloud, but access data are pretty recent, thus they seem to be.

I researched this together with the developer of the tool FS2002 Control which reads off current controls assignments and writes them to a human-readable file.

I think there are local copies available for Store users as well, but I don't have a Store installation to verify this.

I have Steam installed in C:\Steam. In the "userdata" folder is a bunch of folders with numbers for their folder names.  How do I find which folder number to access and which specific input* file is for the keyboard settings? There's a bunch of them:

Dunno, made a search for 1250410 inside the Steam folder and that's where they are.

According to one of the forum articles, the 1250410 is fixed, while the other figure is variable indeed.

Kind regards, Michael

Got it. Thank you.

But now, which of the input file below holds the joystick or controller configuration files?

Hmm, I found another folder and I think this is the one. AT least I can see there my T16000M profile and all the others.

These are xml files, albeit without the extension. You can open them with any ASCII editor, e.g. notepad.

These are the default files, not the user-adapated ones. Just open them and have a look.

Oh, ok. 👍

Edit: Yep, found all my profiles in the userdata folder. Opened with Notepad++.

I opened the file in notepad and found the file.  It's the "inputprofile_0256178848" file. Thank you.

How do I load or apply the "inputprofile_0256178848" file to MSFS?  I copied the file to the remote folder but I can't load them in MSFS.  It's not showing up as an option when I select load under MSFS' "Controls Options" for the joystick.

I think you just click on the tab at the top of the page for the controller you want and then click on the arrow below that to change to the profile you want.
