Headwinds A330 - current status

Recommended Posts

I find it very difficult to taxi this especially around 90deg turns- I have a dedicated hardware steering tiller and dont have issues with the other aircraft

@Silicus thanks for YT link - I’ll watch his video BUT omg what’s up w that livery….the plane looks like it’s wearing pajamas.

If you think Condor's new liveries are bad, take a look at the new cabin crew uniforms:

When I first saw them I was like offensive initials not allowed...but now I think they're just quirky and quite like them.

This is hilarious, to me anyway. lol. Presumably this is a serious post and i think whatever the visuals, that iff they are more

comfortable in this dress code then all the good for them.

Jokes aside. I flew Condor last month and cabin crew uniform were actually quite nice. But livery was pretty bad (B767).I mean why paint airplane at all LOL

I find that the 787-10 with the upcoming AAU2  update is the better option (for me at least). Only drawback is you putting everything in the box (FMC). Which i kinda don't mind. I needed the practice anyway and takes 5 mins or less if you know what you're doing.

Just FYI...you can load a flight plan which has been downloaded from Simbrief on the map page and then when you load the 787/747, the route is already loaded in the box.  It can save a little time on those super long haul routes.

IIRC they were intended to resemble beach towels, because vacation trips.

Same here. A lot of breaking and easing up on the tiller to get from gate to runway and back. I find the PMP version a little easier on frames. It has the same functionality as the stock A320 whereas the Headwind version obviously tracks closer to the FBW. No Vnav with PMP but will track Lnav nicely using the inbuilt flight planner

Based on the recommendations here, I downloaded the ‘stable’ build yesterday, & flew a test flight.  Started in Frankfurt & went down to Tenerife South.  This plane looks, sounds & flies beautifully!  The options on the EFB-pad are cleverly designed & make setting up the flight a breeze.  Route was followed perfectly.  I calculated my own TOD, went to VS mode for the descent, no problem. Bravo, HeadWinds designers.

Thanks to everyone who responded & provided their thoughts.

I've started to fly this in APLv2 but ı'm having an issue with the AP. It won't engage and gives me the AP Disconnect when I press it. Everything is entered correctly but it seems to be a bug. The AT engages which is strange but not the AP.

I've read elsewhere that yoıu can't go above 10 degrees pitch or it won't engage, which sounds like rubbish to me and it didn't work when I tried anyway. Anyone else experience this issue?

I'm going to try the stable version instead and see if that's where the issue lies but it seems from reading the MSFS forum that it's a known bug.

I'm very bullish on the Headwind project in general.  It's a superb aircraft for free.  Looking forward to their redesigned cockpit

...precisely because of this. It's already a lovely bird as is. I'd prefer them to focus on the A333 and A338, but I'm sure they have their reasons 🙂

Hopefully the A338 is no too far off now.  Although,  apart from Kuwait, Greenland and Uganda Airlines, it isn't really flown by others.

A330 definitely looking forward to it.  It will be interesting to see how much (true)  added value is in the payware Aerosoft version

Just tried the Headwind A339. Excellent plane and mod! One thing, though (and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong here - most like I do). I wanted to ask: How do you set altimeter to STD? I can set the altimeter but when trying to set it to STD at transition, it won't work. I've tried right-clicking, left-clicking and middle-mouse button. Is there a shortcut key or is my MSFS messed up? 🙂

It is a great piece of freeware

Pull the rotary knob towards you to set STD.  In your MSFS settings, make sure the cockpit interaction mode is set to 'Legacy'
