Well, if you were wondering why so many issues don't get worked on, it's probably because they were spending their time on this nonsense. This looks like something that should be an addon. Steering away from flight simulator fidelity and going towards cheesy video game stuff. They may also be looking to have everyone have purchase flight simulator all over again. We'll see. Not good IMO.

I wouldn’t call it exactly nonsense. Great chopper piloting skills for certain applications. Thinking about the guys that do the high voltage transmission line maintenance from helicopters! Very cool!

Get out of here with that nonsense. We're in the middle of testing AAU2 which is bringing a ton of improvements to fidelity. MS is showing we can have it all. Just enjoy the ride

That's Working Title doing improvements to aircraft. They do a fantastic job BTW. Meanwhile, the simulator doesn't do PAPI lights or ILS approaches on final correctly. Plus many other core issues.

Since when you made your last update on MSFS? Maybe you are still on 2020.

This is a silly post. "Cheesy video game stuff" - Except they showed off stuff that people do like to use sims for or couldn't before as it wasn't really possible.

I see a lot of people like flying the H145 missions for medical, fire fighting ops etc.

Yes, because I look at MSFS at the world in which the aircraft exist and making that world operate correct as much as possible. Like a flight operating system. What those aircraft do is the addon developer world. JMHO.

and someday it will come with working real traffic online!

How do you not know everything you saw is by 3rd party addons apart from the core sim changes? There was a number of 3rd party dev showcased off in there.

IDK maybe it is. But I would think it would be advertised from the 3rd party developer as a new "Helicopter Rescue/Adventure" addon. Which people into that could then purchase and enjoy. This is being advertised as MSFS 2024.

I'm shocked! So many questions!

Is this just a big update to the base sim we have now?

Will 3rd party devs need to update existing addons to work?

Is it a complete new sim?

Your getting some hate but you're 100% right.   Still have an unrealistic icing simulation, agreed 100% on the ils approaches, the flight model is still so bad developers need hacks or external modeling to create realistic addons, very poor thunderstorm depiction, cumulus clouds and cbs with no turbulence.  Looks like there are seasons which is good to see though.

I honestly fear if it’s a new sim. Not that I don’t like moving forward but I just transitioned from p3d! But progress is progress and I’ll support it😁

Wowsa, a lot of new features in that announce trailer to unpack and analyze. Looking forward to more details from MS/Asobo. At least now I know why the seasons wishlist item got changed from "Started" to "Planned" in the recent dev update 🙂

They weren't kidding when they spoke about future commitment to the sim franchise, not to mention all the 3rd party devs involved.. and beyond flight simming the MS games ecosystem as a whole seems to be steamrolling ahead with Forza, Starfield, and various other amazing titles.. all indirect financial goodness for MSFS!

It's a BeulgaXL and Inibuilds didn't make that one - It could still be them but yeah.

Yes, completely new thing according to the Game Pass twitter.

Interesting development route they've gone but I don't know if this is really going to be my thing.  I dropped $120 on the whizbang version of FS2020 and the past few years have been a bit of a rollercoaster with development updates.  There was the Longitude that launched with a pea-sized fuel tank, some "violent" tendencies with the 787 and 747's autopilot, automatic "you crashed" window on touchdown at SFO, the bridge at Tokyo that causes planes to explode, more Longitude autopilot issues, ATC issues, etc. etc.  I only recently really got away from these problems by completely replacing every Asobo plane with a 3rd party plane save for the TBM, then the AAU removed Charts from that plane and basically rolled it back a few months.  They did say there would be 10 years of support for FS2020 and with all the third-party stuff that exists or is on the way I think I'll stay there.  I can totally see how this appeals to a large group but It's just not for me.
