June 11, 20232 yr Buying a new version will not be a big issue. Replacing all their current addons may slow a few people down,
June 11, 20232 yr I wish someone from Microsoft or Asobo would spill the beans/inform us in order to defuse the anxiety of buying everything over again... Darryl

June 11, 20232 yr I wonder if now we know why Aerosoft pulled their Twin Otter? And I also resonate with the other posts here, if it has an upgrade path then all is well but I will not be too thrilled if I need to repurchase the 1,500 dollars in addon's I already have. But I think we need to be a little patient give ASOBO some time to clarify things. Edited June 11, 20232 yr by Cognita MSFS 2024. They never said every single update would be free for 10 years to be fair. You can still support MSFS for 10 years by releasing a new version of it though. I do think we need to wait for some more news what this all means though, Edited June 11, 20232 yr by Zangoose Vote to fix transparent sun visors having no effect on the sun glare effect in MSFS at: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sun-shades-sun-visors-not-influencing-light-in-cockpit/691565/

June 11, 20232 yr Oh boy, we're back to the classic Avsim oxygen deprived debates like just before the release of MSFS, where so many people were sure it would be a SUBSCRIPTION ONLY sim, because of Game Pass, having zero clue what it was to begin with and we'd 100% have to PAY for streaming data, because it was soooo costly, no way that would be part of the base sim!! No, this is not a completely new release. This is like so many other games in the live service sphere; a continual release cycle of a current ecosystem. Of course they aren't going to nuke the entire marketplace, nuke all the third party work, nuke the entire financial underpinnings of the simulator to start over. That is literally how live service games work; it's a perpetual world that sees constant upgrades and support, which brings in more people and is financially very attractive. It's not uncommon to keep branding new content releases and seasons as almost a new full release, that's to generate additional hype, especially for new users who hasn't dipped their toes in yet. It would make absolutely no sense for them to create a whole new flight simulator...and why would they show seasons if it was a "new sim?" It's branding, folks. If it was a "new sim" I highly doubt it'd be an "open world" experience....it would appear to be a bunch of neat mission packs. I genuinely think this will be an expansion that will make the flight sim "MSFS 2024" similar to ARMA 3 expansions, for example. It's the same base platform. June 11, 20232 yr Honestely, having a game for ten years that will be provided with free updates and only generate revenue with the selling of addons in the market place, it don't know how realistic that is. Especially I can imagen that not everyone buys that stuff, when googling addon I came across some piracy sites. If they can manage it only with market place sales it would be unfair to charge again, because it sounded that they are going to support free updates over the period of 10 years. If thinks don't go as expected and market place sales are lower, I would be fine to pay for that update. As long as they don't charge 130 Euros again. All for the sake that the projects keeps going, since Asobo has been delivering for more than two years, good stuff.
