August 28, 20232 yr Since the thread has been brought back from the dead there's a small detail from the trailer I haven't seen anyone mention yet. The human models got a big graphics upgrade. If you look closely at the pilot shown in various clips (the one that has a striking resemblance to Kelsey from the 74 Gear YT Channel lol) you'll notice that his muscles are now properly defined. I went back to 2020 to look at the default human models and none of them have anywhere near that amount of detail. In the 2024 trailer you can actually see the muscle in his forearm flex as he moves. This is definitely not something new in gaming tech but it is nice to see it make its way into a flight sim. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

I knew responses like this would come in but if devs thought like this, we'd still be flying with black and white 2D panels with grid lines for terrain. Part of the reason for 2020's success was Asobo choosing to add things that weren't essential to flight but added to the overall experience. So yeah, the inclusion of muscle flex.........is a flex 🙂 It does make sense for them to beef up the look of human models since there's going to be so much interaction with them in the career mode. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. I do agree, but in reality, devs sadly have the tendency to focus to much on non-essential things and essential stuff is then bugged for several years (like we have in MSFS) and never really resolved. At least the risk of doing so is huge... I would have absolutely NO objection to all those non-essential but immersion improving small little things IF the essentials are done right. But that is not the case for MSFS and as such I prefer having less non-essential stuff but more polishing for the essential things. Sadly, we wont get both I fear... Not in the practice of watching 40 minute videos of a man in a basement presenting a spreadsheet and Word doc unprompted and without context. It's about the fact that he really thinks that the correct use of parametrization for the flight dynamics modelling of a specific aircraft in MFS, as good as the correct use of their CFD methods of "reinjection" is in good part the key for the success, because he believes the SDK while it can be incomplete in terms of documentation, is still the a good framework and evolving in a good way, probably ( I say, not him ) getting even better with 2024... To give us both. 2024 is being made as an answer to issues that cannot be fixed with the limitations of the current engine. Their goal is to make "the perfect sim". My advice would be to save the pessimism for the beta phase. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
