I guess everyone has different focuses a what’s important to them but personally I’d far rather have better looking terrain and scenery than ground physics. I think the live weather is ok at the moment but obviously it’s far from perfect. MS/asobo have shown they’re constantly working on it though so hopefully it will keep improving. I don’t think it’s an either or thing though?

Never heard of that approach before (other than security patches, etc.) Define 'going' 😉 FS20 is mix of a product and of a networked service. They can't disconnect the MS2020 servers without having in the next New York minute a massive class action against them from all those who bought the older sim and don't have any intention, for whatever reasons, to move to its little brother. I am very doubtful about an ongoing development of FS20 after the Fs24 release whatever they say. Take my stance with Starfield, aside the very first trailer I've not watched any videos, not seen any screenshots, not read anything on the game AT ALL so I don't even know what my expectations are....and I still parted with £65 for the game up front 🤦♂️😃 Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I think people who talk like this are just trying to show off and say to everyone, "I am a real simmer boy!" Who said anything about not caring about those other aspects? There's been 71 pages of it in here and other threads dedicated to them that I've been very active in. Sorry to break it to you but your comment does not make you look cool. I really don't care what is important to you. I noticed something in the trailer (which just so happens to be the topic of the thread) and chose to point it out. You guys actually sound insecure when you do this. Not a good look. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

August 29, 20232 yr What specifically has been described in any interviews or presentations about 2024 with regard to weather, and in particular cloud depiction? This is always the main area I would like to see addressed bigtime as for me it's the biggest elephant in the room. I'm excited to see how they manage seasonal change as well but the reality is most of my sim time as I use airliners almost exclusively is spent at altitude where sky visuals and physical effects on planes reign supreme. In fact if this doesn't change significantly I'll probably just stick w/ 2020 as all the various activities and career focus I'm seeing in trailers really aren't an interest of mine at least currently as I've had "purpose" solved for decades now in P3D w/ FSCaptain and now w/ APL. I've assumed there is hope for this since there is allegedly serious performance headroom coming in 2024 but sadly I've seen nothing yet suggesting it's high on the priority list. There was a quote from Matt Booty (Head of game studios at MS) who wanted to make it clear that the tornado in the trailer was not canned and occurred "naturally" because of the massive upgrades they made to the weather model. He brought that up as one of the reasons they felt it necessary to release a new paid version. As for cloud depiction, unfortunately, none of the people who interviewed them at the expo asked them anything about it. Looking at the trailer, there does seem to be some improvements to the opacity of the clouds but there's no way to know if live weather was in use or not. We can currently make good looking clouds by adjusting presets so we know the weakness the sim has is how the live weather algorithm chooses to draw clouds that are way too transparent. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. I saw the official 2 min trailer the other day out of Gamescon and I was like take my money. However this is on the basis that Bethesda are reputable and make quality games, I love a good space "game" and my new 7800X3D + 4090 is going to make this game sing like a budgie. 🙂 Thomas Derbyshire

I think there's much more to it than that, though I know what you're saying. Presets suffer from the poor voxel resolution and I see no way to create the kind of realistic variable and distinct cloud types with the current modeling, live or otherwise. There seems to already be ample performance to be able to do better at least for PC users w/ the resources and w/ the promised improvements in performance it certainly could happen. Perhaps we'll be super pleasantly surprised with a new trailer which demonstrates some of this. Certainly WU and SU etc anyway. We don't have a release date for 2024 other than it is being released in 2024. The current 2020 roadmap ends in October and will be updated again in that month. Jorg said in an interview at FSExpo that World Updates will continue in 2020 after 2024 launches, they just won't be as high quality as they will be in 2024 because of 2020 lacking the new tech they're using. August 29, 20232 yr i do not expect a lot of people who did not care about MSFS 2020 will join the hobby with FS 2024. I think the improvements are targeted to existing casual gamers and enthusiasts alike. Really, a lot of what has been presented so far does fit for the current user base. I do not expect huge improvements in weather or the flight model area, but still I am surprised about commenters in this forum that are not looking forward to the new release.
