Not sure I understand what the point of this video is. MSFS 2020 is not a "training solution", it's an entertainment product for a "mass audience" = $$$$$

Not sure it’s a viable  “Training solution” or will be any time soon anyway. It’s likely ok as a procedures trainer and for practicing flows or maybe even for getting a bit of situational awareness for a new airport or approach for  pilots.

Who says the new version won’t have the same or better fidelity anyway?

The short ad we’ve seen just shows some great new features (missions and possibly career modes) there’s no reason to think the rest of the core game won’t be even better.

I’m excited about the new game I certainly don’t feel betrayed or that I’ve had a training solution taken away from me.

I really do not understand these kinds of statements. MSFS is clearly stated to be an entertainment product, its principal purpose is to entertain. It is not, nor does it aspire to be some kind of IFR procedural trainer, not should it. If you want that kind of experience, it would make much, much more sense to head down to your local flight school and book some time on one of their trainers. Can I lean some things about aviation and aircraft from MSFS and well designed add on aircraft, yes; and I enjoy doing so and in this way entertainment and learning are to a degree woven together. Has an add on aircraft like the 737 inspired me to go and read about the aircraft, to study its manuals and understand it better, yes. Have I been encouraged to study flight planning and understand its principals, yes.  And I derive a lot of enjoyment from this; but it is a hobby not a professional training experience. Do I think that sitting in my comfortable HVAV controlled office on my 300 dollar office chair, in front of my 32 inch monitor, using my mouse and some peripherals -- manufactured by an entertainment company -- provides me with a realistic sense of proportion, depth, sense of feel, and what it means to sit in a cockpit and operate an aircraft -- no, I have never entertained such a thought.

As the commentator said, if this is what you are looking for then X-Plane by all accounts is a very good option. Practice there. Or, better yet, head to the local flight school.

Tired of seeing clickbait videos dropped into this forum. Just stop already.

Looks like all the YT'ers have a chance to get some clicks this week!  This guy appears to have mostly clickbait titles on all of his videos.....and I didn't waste any more time than the first 30 seconds of this one...

Yea it starts to be a bit annoying,

well to an extend even xplane won't do better IFR ...., it's still a consumer flightsim, i mean u even have better default avionics now with the G serie. If u want to fly certifying stuff, well go for a certified sim in a school.

I don't get why the proclaimed simmers here think that what we see in the trailer is for kidz gamerz on xbox. Aviation is not tube flying only, i'm actually excited for what i see, and to me could be more realistic operations than what we have now ....it's funny how these people think that "hardcore" simming is filling a simbrief, clicking one button on their EFB to load the plane(or crying a river when it's missing) then clicking the uplink on the fmc and starting the plane ...

Let's remember that these jobs (firefighter, heli towing ....) are way more challenging jobs then flying airlines.

Also it's literally based on MSFS i don't see why there would be regressions ... at worst it will be what we have now + the new stuff.

why create a separate thread when there plenty of discussions are already going on?

This is actually a separate concern from those mentioned before... most dealt with having to upgrade and what that might mean.  This one is dealing with "sim vs game".. and deep inside me, I do share the concern.

Vehicles driving on the taxi ways, trees blocking the approach path, misplaced PAPI lights, morphing terrain tiles etc  do indeed interfere with the authentic cockpit experience.. and seeing MS/Asobo spending their energy on adding Mission content, instead of cleaning up the basics rubs me the wrong way also.. 😟

I share some concern also.  However I'm reserving judgement as to what 2024 will look like in regards to the type of flying I do.  Just because I don't have a big interest in these special missions, doesn't mean I won't ultimately enjoy improvements it brings.  Jury is out for me.  I'm hoping it ends up ok.  It's hard to imagine going back to p3d or to xplane.  That wouldn't feel right at this point.

The title of this clickbait video isn't: I'd like to share some concerns, it's BETRAYAL - like some Macbeth type thing is going to happen....and the sim isn't even out yet.

Yes, I groaned too until I saw it was from Russ Barlow. Russ is always worth listening too - he has the credentials and has contributed a lot to the sim, particularly his videos about VR and about cockpit building. Not to mention contributing a boatload of free stuff to Sim Innovations. Oh, and inventing the Knobster.

There isn't anything that can be done on X plane, that can't be done on MSFS.

I don't think MSFS is particular in this respect. When I switched from P3D to XP11 there were a lot of 2D airports no buildings no nothing. Thanks for freeware community over the years most of gaps were filled up with gateway sceneries.
