How to get 50% fps from 60 Hertz x 2 with FRG ?

You now wrote exactly what I “saying” all the time  🤠

One last try set your monitors frequency to 60 hertz + Vsync On.
Without FG you should see 60 FPS in any external FPS counter. The in-game FPS counter should show 60 FPS when you use 100% of the frequency. If you use 50% you should see 30 FPS.
If your pc cannot achieve 58-60 your FPS drop to 50% of the maximum Vsync value. Which was 60 and will show 30. I am sure you’ll agree on this …?

Beside this you have FG. That doubles the FPS. Every external framerate counter should show double the amount you saw before. In this case 120.

As the in-game FPS counter only shows the FPS without the added AI FPS you still see 60.

To go back on-topic : I am still wondering why Vsync, being it enabled in NVCP or inside MSFS does not work anymore on both of my systems. It now is the same as Unlimited….

Have you enabled NVCP Vsync in both global and MSFS specific profile? Global Vsync on will not work if MSFS profile is set to "use application settings" or vice versa. Just a thought as i made the same mistake before.

In Global I use default values. In the MSFS profile I have tried with Vsync On + ingame Vsync Off. But also with Vsync Off + ingane Vsync Enabled. And Vsync Appl Controlled + ingame Enabled.

I will try your suggestion 👍

Try OFF in MSFS and both, global and MSFS profile ON. Works for me.

I'm just repeating my own statements for the umpteenth time, which seems to be questioned.

That is how traditional vsync works, by waiting until vblank. However, has nothing to do with what I was showing nor what we were talking about, at all and I also have a Gsync monitor, thus vsync will automatically work more like an adaptive sync. So not sure about the relevance of that.

Yes, it doubles it as part of the process. Meaning if you vsync or frame rate cap to 60, then the frame generation is already part of that process, it isn't added on top of that to randomly go to 120. Now the frame generation is part of the 60fps. That is evident by the fact that the internal render FPS goes to half, your GPU usage increases, CPU usage decreases and input latency is noticeably increased when you're at such low framerates. So no, it wouldn't go to 120 if you cap at 60. You're essentially capping the game to 30 and letting the frame generation bring it up to 60.

Here just normal displays . No G-sync

You really are making the mistake of thinking that FG is part of the 60 FPS. We are talking about normal displays ….

It doubles it : see the link + vid

When it all worked correctly (last time I checked was a few months ago ) I could see the FPS change when selecting 100 -> 50%.
So 60 would become 30.

When they added FG I could see doubled FPS in Fraps and the Freestyle Framerate counter. While the ingame FPS counter remained at 60. That is the same what you can see in the vid.

If your assumption is correct your real FPS would be 30 ? And then doubled to 60 ? Your 40 card is capable of much more…

I can't tell if you're trolling me now or there's some reading comprehension going on due to some language barrier. He says exactly what I've said multiple times now and nothing in his video says anything different. Also confirms the in-game debug counter isn't correct and he uses RTSS to confirm the real FPS -- Just like I did in my video I posted.

Just discovered something :

NVCP : Global Vsync On / MSFS profile Vsync On / 60 hertz

MSFS : Vsync off / FG on

In-game counter : 60

External counter : 60 (same as in-game)

- - -

NVCP : Global Vsync Off / MSFS profile Vsync Off / 60 hertz

MSFS : Vsync off FG on

In-game counter : 95

External counter : 190 (2x in-game)

- - -

NVCP : Global Vsync Appl /  MSFS profile Vsync Appl / 60 hertz

MSFS : Vsync off / FG on

In-game counter : 95

External counter : 190 (2x in-game)

However, when I click with my mouse on the second, non MSFS screen, both the in-game and the external FPS counter go down to 60.

Do I click on the MSFS screen the FPS of both go up again to 95 and 190.

This did not happen a few months ago. Something is not correct. FG should work

In-game counter : 95 -> GPU : 4.3 Ms

in-game counter : 60 -> GPU : 3.7 Ms ( click on second screen )

Did some AI ac traffic tests and with 95 - 190 they move definitely smoother.

Last test with clicking on the not Fs screen

100% = 60

50% = 30

33% = 20

So Vsync only works when clicking on the not Fs screen.

As last I tried with my Left view pc using Mouse To Border ( one mouse used for 2 pc’s )

When clicking on my server Vsync works on the Left view pc. Clicking on the Left view itself and Vsync does not work anymore.

See the difference : no working Vsync vs working Vsync

Mt understanding is FG only works on the screen/window that's in focus.

The annoying thing is that despite all of the above, it's completely different on a triple monitor setup which produces some very odd results with the above combinations...

That is correct.

Summary after testing :

1 Vsync does not work anymore (correctly) with FG enabled

2 FG works correctly with Vsync Off (being it in NVCP or MSFS)

The best smoothness I am getting with Vsync Apl in NVCP and Vsync / 50% freq inside MSFS.

FG + Vsync only works when clicking on the MSFS screen. However, it is less smooth than FG Off and Vsync On.
With a second screen for other apps and the mouse active on that screen , Vsync stops working on the MSFS screen.

As I am using many AI traffic want a lot of detail, in a heavy scenery the FPS goes down to 37. In that case FG On / Vsync Off is less smooth. Up in the Sky it is very smooth.

It was nice to give us FG but imho it is only usefull If already you have a good framerate ….

Yeah, to be honest with 3 monitors I find FG a little more hassle than its worth at the moment. Certainly when it is on I get a significant increase in main thread time which reduces overall performance is brings stutters.

I'll leave it off and just rely on the raw power of the 4090 until the get around to fixing FG

What also seem to work well :

NVCP : fps locked at 30

Vsync : off

- - -

MSFS : FG On

MSFS : Vsync Off

This shows 30 on the in-game FPS counter and 60 on the NV FPS counter

I still have to make some flights to compare this to the in-game Vsync On 50% freq. And NVCP : no limit / Vsync Appl

Its so messed up...with the above settings i get 15FPS ingame and on the external Counter. So FG cuts my frames in half.

That is weird. FG should double the FPS.

Here my server uses a 2 view Config. Main view + External view.

I have frequency set to 60 hertz in the NVCP.
