Alternative to FSPassengers - For Specific Conditions

Thank you all very much for helping!!!

it seems to me there were mentions of 3 main Add-ons here (APLv2, Onair and Newsky), and I have studied quite a bit about them, but there are some things which I could not find the answer to. So whoever uses it (you guys), are the best source there is 🙂

A few questions (namely, 3 questions):

As far as all those 3 add-ons mentioned - Can you really start with commercial jets (Boeing & Airbus) from the get-go (Onair, Newsky & APLv2)? because I heard that you need a specific license for each type of aircraft.

Another thing is - can you change the things your flight will be rated upon (i.e - turn some off)?

As far as Onair - Can you manipulate the money you have to buy a jet (Boeing & Airbus)?

Any help will be appreciated,

Thank you very much!

To fly the aircraft you want in Newsky:

  • Create  an airline or join the Newsky Academy (instantaneous acceptance)
  • If you created your own airline, lease the aircraft you want to fly (there's a drop down list)
  • Click "Book flight"
  • Choose the "Free Flight" option
  • Choose Passenger or Cargo (you need a cargo plane for cargo)🙂
  • Then choose the Airline you want to fly for.
  • Type in your departure and arrival airports and choose the plane you want to fly.
  • Click on the "Start flight" Icon and off you go.
  • Once you land your flight will be given a mark out of 10 with an explanation of what you did wrong, or right.
  • No you cannot turn off any of the things you will be rated on.

It's much easier to actually do than it is to try to explain it in writing...

If you want more information about Newsky go here: FAQ | Newsky Wiki

Newsky is still under development and the developer is very active. It has a fairly simple economy model which takes into account Fare revenue and costs such as handling fees, fuel etc. It's free to use so the only thing it will cost you is a little time to see if  you like it.

In OnAir you can get bank loans based on the value of your Company. It's quite a long haul to earn enough money to buy an A320, even on the easiest server. In OnAir you will have to do flying tests for each license type: Single engine multi engines etc.

Another Airline Sim type "application" I use is FS Airlines, which I'm surprised doesn't get more attention. It's a fair bit more complicated than Newsky with an aircraft marketplace, passengers, cargo, schedules etc. You can read more about it here: fsairlines.net/en/home

It's a Virtual Airline manager, but you can set up a one man airline and fly any aircraft you like to anywhere using schedules you set up. The economic model is much more complicated than Newsky and at the beginning there's a "multiplication factor" (which you can adjust) regarding revenues so you don't have to fly a million miles before you can fly your first airliner. There is a free version and a subscription version which costs about 30 euros a year for the top level. It's well worth a look.

Eagles may soar, but alley cats don't get sucked into jet engines.

APL: You do need licenses but you just buy them. With your initial amount of money you can buy at least one license for any airliner you want. So you can buy the A320 license which is good for all A318-A321. Or the 737 license which is good for all 737s. Licenses for smaller aircraft are cheaper than for larger aircraft. With your initial amount of money you can for example buy the ATR license plus either the A320 or the B737 license.

So you can immediately start with an airliner of your choice, but you cannot start with all kinds of different airliners all at once from the beginning.

APL: no.
