New ATC coming for 2020 and 2024

But still, I will never use voice recognition or anything like that because the family would still go crazy. It's simply a no go at my home. Which is why my ATC addon really needs button control. Any ATC addon that doesn't make good use of button control won't be bought by me.

All good chaps, we each have our own needs and preferences, no one app is going to meet them all.  I chose vox because the use of a headset gives me more realistic sounds, feels more immersive and I want the hands off voice recognition to most closely replicate the physicality of real flying.  Not to mention it controls AI, which means you actually need to listen for situational awareness, and it includes UK vfr procedures no other app does.  But that's just me. 😛

I agree with both of you.

I think any ATC addon should support both options: control by voice or by configurable buttons.

Voice is most immersive and I'd like to use it whenever possible. But there are situations when it's not feasible to use voice depending on the environment (family).

Both options are needed. It would be a shame not to be able to use an otherwise great ATC addon just because you cannot control it with resp. without voice.

I really liked it. Voices were okay, in my view. I especially liked the accents and US phraseology of flight-numbers (like two-twentyfour, instead of two-two-four). I know it's a small thing, but it really adds to the immersion in my opinion.

Something I've only experienced with Radar Contact. It's my hope that FSHud will implement this as well at some point.

As can be seen on your profile photo! 😁

I always fly with a headset 1. because my family members can't stand the noise the sim would make, 2. because of TrackIR's Track Clip Pro and 3. well, if feels kind of realistic and immersive. 😉 I absolutly DO like flying with a headset!

Luckily the dev of B-ATC told me on Discord that B-ATC will offer all kinds of options to control interaction with ATC with keys (or automation... but I refer to be in control).

Me using a headset is when I fly a real aircraft, which I don't do in my Computer room. I have used PF3 for many years and before that, Pro ATC X, so never used a voice activated ATC, and would not even consider it.

What do you mean? I was refering to BeyondATC (which I liked) which is what this thread/topic is about, isn't it? Or am I missing something?!

Well I have seen numerous mentions of Vox ATC, and FSHUD, so I guess I just got lost after 6 pages of posts.  😉

With Vox, is there a button version, or do you have to use audio to communicate with the program? I don't like flying wearing a headset.

Yes, to a certain extent, using the Copilot option. All you have to do is enter the first frequency. Then you press a single button each time to trigger the appropriate responses from the copilot!

In addition, after loading a simple flight plan, Vox is able to recognize the type and characteristics of the aircraft, and also takes into account the terrain, so except in very exceptional cases, it won't send you crashing into it.

I'd also like to add that during a clearance, it will automatically add the SID or STAR if available, corresponding to the tracks used.

If you don't like the star it gives you, can you ask for a different one?

You can request a direct approach via a menu if that's the question.

Incorrect, the first to do this was VoxATC, and it still does! Each to their own, but vox has no real drawbacks for me, controls traffic, IFR and VFR ops, voice recognition, correct terminology, what's not to like?

VoxATC isn't for MSFS.

Don't think that was the question. I think Bob meant: can you ask for another arrival and approach?

You can set frequencies manually....? Or is everything automated and doable with one button press?

Fair enough. I see your point. 🙂
I guess I could have explained it a bit better.

Sure, but I've read people talk about VoxATC for MSFS and betas for 3 years since MSFS came out, so I'll believe it when I see it.

That said, unless it blows FSHud out of the water I won't buy it because at this point buying ATC addons is becoming a waste of money considering how many I have that never satisfied me in a reasonable way. FSHud is closer to what I'm looking for than the others despite its own flaws (but it's a beta version).

Yes, this was a thread about BeyondATC but people turned it into a thread about VoxATC.
