Too many "three letters" abbreviation? please help!

Recommended Posts

That actually made me laugh out loud.I'll have to add that to my list! :) Talking about abbreviations, what about teenagers and online chat. I swear they've shortened the languague to an Orwellian Languague Utopia. I've seen my teenagers typing online and haven't got a clue as to what they are on about, wish they'd take that energy and thought and apply it to school though.

>SMS/text messaging is the beginning of the end of the English>language as we know it. It's a sad thing...>>Dave BlevinsI couldn't agree more. One of the most aggravating things is that this rediculous shorthand has been infiltrating forums now for some time, making formerly nice places to visit a "fingernails on blackboard" experience... :-bang Of course, the same could be said for written communications. I've even had post-grad students turn in papers containing emoticons for heaven's sake! :-lol
