I would put the 717 on par with the CRJ. Limited function tablet, no chart integration (though, it was before its time), no ACARS, sketchy LNAV and VNAV, systems that worked okay but didn't have intense depth. Not to knock it, the 717 is a fairly simple airplane, but between that, an ACARS, and a "passenger experience" product that just reads pre-recorded voice lines, I don't see any indication that these are some master-stroke developers putting the chef's kiss on an amazing product. They just don't have the history that indicates that.

And again, reminding everyone that the 717 shipped with showstopping bugs. It couldn't follow a path, VNAV was nonexistent, AP was hopelessly broken, performance was terrible, and you could land, stop, and go backwards with the reversers in about 350 feet. It got good for a minute, but they never solved the view switch CTD, and about 10 versions of the .dll file were floating around. Every one I ever used from their Discord had a horrific memory leak which would hobble my machine and cause an OOM. Frame rate around 2-3 FPS even in an empty field.

So no, I don't trust them. And yes, I do have an experience base with TFDi, and no, I am not too hopeful.

The fact alone that people are wary of this shows that TFDi's handling so far is an issue. Objectively speaking, it's just not a compelling offer, at least not for anyone not dying to get an MD-11 or having extensive experience with the company. While some may dive right into it, others are skeptical spending cash at this point considering the situation so far and that's perfectly sensible. That has nothing to do with biased assumptions and definitely not false information.

I'm confused.. what's the incentive to preorder this add-on?

I believe the only incentive is you get it a week early vs. those who order it on launch day. 

I did never a pre- order and never will..

Price protection. Make sure to notice the part where they say you'll pay this one-time fee and not have to deal with future price increases.

Absolutely, it's smart from the business standpoint but it's idiotic from the buyer standpoint.

I must be  idiotic always had  pre  ordered   modules  from  dcs different though,  but  always  been  cheaper  than  waiting  for  it  to  come  on line

Well, considering you're buying into undercooked early-access modules that sometimes take years to even get even close to being finished, thus rewarding this practice all to save a few bucks, which you also could have saved by buying it on one of their many sales when the module is already out then yeah, I wouldn't exactly classify you as a smart consumer - Sorry.

Considering the amount of fun I've had with early access modules I'm pretty happy with this practise.

oh absolutely.

But TFDI in particular has not that of a good track record with their initial releases, often required substantial hotfixes in order to be "enjoyable". I'm not only talking about the horrendous B717 RTFM, but also the KA350i (Milviz, but TFDI lead programmer was the one in charge). Speaking of shoddy releasedate, remember that you could also pre-order that one 😉

Keep in mind the actual releasedate for the King Air was around x-mas of 2019 (followed by plenty of hotfixes)...
I'll never pre-order anything from TFDI. But that's my opinion based on my experience 🙂

I have only expressed my opinion since I don't know them. Nevertheless, I will definitely get MD-11 from TFDI after seeing some reviews first. It is a steep price for an add-one in MSFS ecosystem, so I gotta be pretty good informed about the features and the quality.
