Which 5 warbirds would you like from Flying Iron ?

Featured Replies

For me, it would have to be the Hawker Hurricane.  I saw one in the Birmingham (UK) Science Museum when I was about 6.  It was next to a Spitfire which was also pretty (very) thrilling.  But it was the Hurricane that just completely wowed me.

Oh - and yes - that was over 61 years ago...  🙂

But in the meantime, the FlyingIrons Spitfire IX and their newly released Me109 are simply sublime...

I wouldn't mind betting the Jug is on Flying Iron's radar anyway. If so, I hope it's a 'razorback' version.

FIS has a P-47N for X-Plane. IIRC, it was one of, if not "the", first FIS addon.

4) Consolidated PB4Y Privateer

A nice aircraft but honestly patrolling the Coral Sea at 175 mph can rapidly become a bore 😏.

After trying out A2A's lovely B-17, can confirm.

P-61 Black Widow would be nice.

That's coming from DC Designs.

They aren't known for FIS' level of fidelity, but their work is getting steadily better, and they use CFD flight models like FIS do.

I once met an American 8th USAAF veteran here in the UK. He and his wife were visiting his old base at Wendling in Norfolk and he'd pulled over to ask where the old post office was. I asked if he'd been based here during the war. He said "yes kid, I was at Wendling", and without hesitating, I replied "Oh, did you fly on the B:24s then?". (I was 17, he would have been in his early 60s). He burst into tears, leaving me more than a little perplexed.

Apparently, everyone knew about the B:17s, hardly anyone cared about the 24s. So, In view of the fact "Masters of the Air" (featuring B:17S) is due for imminent release, I'd love to see a big B:24, in MSFS 24, one day, for him. In case he ever looks down.

For now, flying a B:25 around Corsica and Italy would be pretty cool!

Looking post-ww2 but in the same philosophy than the P-47, a big heap of metal with a monstruous engine at the tip, I wouldn’t mind  a Douglas A-1 Skyraider . @Milviz spoke of one, showed us a couple of shots but it seems that they have abandoned the project now.

Perhaps not - I recently watched one of their live streams (not the latest one, tho) and they said they had previously sold the rights to the model to another 3PD (as they did with the beautiful T-45 Goshawk).

But that apparently didn't work out and Colin said it was back in house and back under development.

Considering they recently released it in P3D, and given their excellent Corsair for both sims, it'll be a great addition that shouldn't take too long to re-build for MSFS (relatively speaking 🙂 ).

Agreeing with almost every suggestion, so I'll have to reach a bit:

F8F Bearcat

Me-262

P-39 (preferably P-63)

And another vote for the P-47

I'd rather have an FIS P-51 than the current alternatives (hoping for A2As sooner than later).

Very doubtful from FIS, but any of the cool flying boats would be great (Mariner, Sunderland, Catalina, IJN, etc). If ya gotta fly slow, might as well be able to land on any strip of water...

There's a lot of great airplanes listed, but I'd really love to see a good B-36. That's such an iconic beast and fully of idiosyncrasies.

Ok, of course I want those all rolled into one release!😉

So if that's my number 1 choice, 2 - 4 would be:

Hawker Hurricane

Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV

Avro Lancaster

Messerschmitt ME262

Handley Page Victor (since the Avro Vulcan is in development by Just Flight). If glider towing can be modelled, surely in-flight refuelling should be an interesting possibility?

Nobody will notice that's a total of 6.

You remind me.  Mosquito -- this would be a great one.  I wasn't even aware of the "Tsetse" version.

I'm determined that MSFS2020 will be the first simulator I've owned since Sierra's "Aces of the Pacific"  NOT to have a bloody P-51 in it! 😁

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.
