Hi fellas, especially @Bert Pieke  😊 After its first patch I purchased the Carenado C182RG, but like any other Carenado aircraft it doesn't use the WT GNS 530 by default. What file do I have to edit and how to accomplish this?

I am aware I can do a seperate WT GNS 530 installation within the sim, but I'm not sure if this gets updated... Thanks!

Huh? The Carenado 182RG uses the WT GNS530 by default. What are you getting on yours? Bert shared a modification for people wanting the TDS GTN750 by default and I shared one for those who want the PMS50 GTN750 by default.

It only uses the WT GNS 530 after installing it in the content manager. That's the confusing bit; although the WT unit is now the default GNS, there is still a seperate WT GNS 530 in the content manager to be installed. This seems to be the one the Carenado aircraft are using. With this seperate WT GNS uninstalled I see a simplified GNS 530, similar to the MSFS one before WT did their magic.

This is what you should have installed if you check the content manager and it will use the WT GNS530. Is this what you have?

According to posts on the official forums you can edit the panel.cfg file:

Change “AS530” to “WT530”.

Have not tried it myself but I think it is something like this you were looking for?

He doesn't need to edit anything if he has the above installed.

True, but if you install both, the one will point to the other one automatically anyway without fiddling with the config files that may be changed back after a future update. 

That is the way Asobo / WT want it for backwards compatibility. 

A bit confusing I know, but if you have both installed like Al says, you can't go wrong.  The file sizes are relatively small.

Yes, not your fault, you were just trying to help, and that was the way before one of WT's last 430/530 updates to put things right.

It is, only the 1.1.4 version is not installed, which is what Carenado uses.

No need to do this after all it appears. I had no idea both files we're connected. It's confusing indeed they have different version numbers.

Because the lower 1.1.7 version is the Garmin device itself and the upper 1.1.4 version is just a bit of code to point the Asobo GNS430 and 530 calls to the WT GNS 430/530.

Yes, it’s basically a virtual link, much like addon linker except it doesn’t link to an object but instead it redirects.

I have the same problem.

All my Carenados use a somehow simplified GNS 530. I have both installed in the Content Manager (the 1.1.4 and the 1.1.7).

When i change "AS530" to "WT530" in the PANEL.CFG, i only see a white screen.

 

What can i do to use the current WT GNS in my Carenados?

I was the poster on the official forums with the panel.cfg edit, as I experience the following otherwise:

With the default panel config, and the WT version apparently installed in Content, the 182RG's GNS530 remains simplified. Among other identifying traits, the "AS" version does not do a startup RAIM check, has a different / simplified TCAS page, and lacks many features. I only get the fully featured WT version with the necessary panel edit from "AS" to "WT". 

For those claiming they don't need to make a panel edit, the quickest way to see if you have the more advanced GPS is if upon GPS startup it's doing a RAIM check at startup (there are plenty of images on the internet of what this looks like). If it's not doing it, then it's the simplified GPS. 

This applies to all Carenado aircraft so far. 

I have not experienced the white screen issue that the user above has, so unfortunately I cannot assist.
