Microsoft doesn't want to get in trouble for using/selling someone's trademark without permission. Do you really believe that? The airlines are more than happy knowing that each user advertises their image for free. Fortunately, not everything the law says is fair. If you realize it, you could also report the use of the image of your house on the bing maps, which is being used by everyone who flies over the place where you live. Life is exposed to everyone's eyes. We can't cut the melon and then not give the pieces. It would be miserable. In any case, even if the airlines do not give permission, there will always be users who will do repaints of everything. i have heard that there is people who forbid the sun. 😎

This absolutely does not mean that if an airline marketing manager woke up on the wrong side of the bed one morning and decided to send a DMCA letter to Microsoft, Microsoft wouldn't have to comply. They own the right to their logos, and using them without permission can ABSOLUTELY lead to legal action. And the bigger the company that uses them is, the more likely the legal action is. 1 hour ago, abranpuko said: you could also report the use of the image of your house on the bing maps The image of your house isn't covered by trademark law. An airline logo is. Edited July 3, 20232 yr by Abriael Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com

If Microsoft starts doing it, those same lawyers will salivate and will fall all over themselves filing the lawsuits, because Microsoft has tons of money to sue for, and they already know how to find them. Different reality. Modders can just do it, Microsoft has to step carefully.

They aren’t worried that 3rd party developers are offering unlicensed liveries for the air traffic. But they probably don’t think it’s a good idea to offer themselves a product with unlicensed assets. Things like Steam taking MSFS out of the store would be a possibility. I’ve seen Steam taking other games because IP issues. Not saying any airline would sue MS, but they probably want to play safe.
