Overclocking & FSX activation

Recommended Posts

Hi all,It happened to me, when I was using my old PC, to loose FSX activation after having overclocked.I usually make GHOST copies, so I restored the system and had not to reactivate. Now, I've just replaced the PC (Q6600) and the tentation to raise the clock is very strong...Did anyone experience the same? Thanks for any replyFulvio

Overclocking your CPU shouldn't lose your activation. However, I recently replaced my motherboard and CPU and I did loose my Vista activation but not FSX.

I built a new system, and I believed I used my second activation. After overclocking it, I didn't have a activation problem though.

I had the dreaded 1722 error--twice.I don't know if it was because of overclocking or not though. I've had my overclock at the same level for about 6 months now because of FEAR that a change in clock will bring the 1722 activation error back.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Hi, Since last OCT I can't remember how many times I have had the 1722 error and that was without overclocking . I think the error is built in to FSXTONY

It's really a non issue.

Not true. In many, many instance, this will not necessarily be enough to fix the problem. While it is true if you uninstall FSX completely, and reinstall, and call them, they will give you an activation number. It is not true that this, however, will work in every situation. I was in a situation that even though I called them and they gave me a reactivation number, it did not work. What fixed it, and it may have fixed it without a reinstall in my situation, was to run the error 17022 fix thingy. This does not work for everybody, however. I believe I saw at least one person who had to do a disk format and FSX AND OS reinstall to finally get it fixed. Not something I would be happy doing.I lost activation due to a corruption due to a system crash to blue screen.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Hi all, thanks everybody for the replies. At the moment, I'm enjoying the new PC and naturally (coming from a P4 3GHz) it seems very fast(Q6600, 4GB RAM, 8800 GTX, 10.000 rmpm disks, etc...).So I think I'll keep the std clock speed for a while, just to test the new installation (freezes, crashes,...) then I'll try to raise the clock.Fulvio
