Jack, I didn't notice any frame rate impact so far.I use High 2.x but you can also try the file with lower 2.x settings.

Geofa,Here are some pics with UT USA and FEX.I didn't notice any issue.Maybe can you create a new "Terrain" folder and see if it helps.Regards,David20071022231844403di1.jpg2007102223232073hz6.jpg20071022232724529fo5.jpg20071022232937778ut9.jpg20071022233113198bo5.jpg

No thats not realistic water. There is very little difference between this and FS9.Crysis has rolling 3D waves with froth. It actually looks a lot better than the "magic screenies".http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179259.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179260.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179261.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179262.jpgVideos here:www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/73018.html

How long will we compare oranges and apples?????:-hmmm Crysis is Crysis and FSX is FSX.When I'll be able to fly a 767-300 in Crysis I will probably switch :--))

They are both directx games with graphic engines that render the world! So the graphics quality can be compared.

The graphics quality is an important part of a game but it's not all.Well, I am not a Crysis expert but I don't believe it renders the whole world. And with something like 50Gb and today's hardware and technology, FSX provides navigation database, weather parameters, avionics systems, AI for both planes and boats etc..., with a very honnest graphics quality.Maybe this interview with Phil Taylor can explain this much better then I do:http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=5wKe3V1l6Dk

Hi David,I don't want to be a kill-joy here but I'm trying to see the difference between the default FSX stuff (see shot below) without FEX and the shots you have posted. Is it something to do with the slightly higher frequency swells perhaps.?Re WOZhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179265.jpg

Hi WOZ,Better then words, have a look at the comparative screens here:http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/index...ic=128505&st=40.They are done without FEX and I think you will see the difference with and without the shader file changes.Regards,David

That water is just a different color. Its debatable which one is even "better".

OK I see its all to do with Fresnel reflection not wavelets or swells. When you look at an angle at the water surface there's a change in the surface appearance because of both refection and refraction. It gives the surface a more silvery appearance than what appears in FSX. Phil has acknowledged it as being a good tweak. So I guess it is. Must go down to lake next time and take a look-see.However, I wonder what the problem is that Geofa is having with this tweak ? before I try it.Re WOZ
