Yeah it's awesome, did you undervolt as well? Makes such a difference to the temps and improves the performance.

yes i do just a little

3600 ddr 4 fast ram nvme's and a good board , and many hours of settings etc makes for a good all-round system

Reading posts like this I always think I must be living in a different universe, enjoying MSFS with my 8700K/1080TI system, never looking at an FPS counter.

Weird thing. I normally fly the PMDG BBJ1, but yesterday tried the regular 737-700 passenger version. Seemed to get quite a bit better performance, lower temps, could raise fps limit on RivaTuner. Maybe just coincidence though.

Unrelated, but I lost all my sim settings today. While trying to start the sim, popup message said you're already signed into X Box on another device. No idea, I have no other devices. Then after entering my sign in credentials, all sim settings (graphics etc.) were back to default. Since I hadn't taken notes, I couldn't tell what my settings were yesterday when I got the great performance. But this issue might be caused by clicking the sim off at the end of the day by simply shutting down the window, rather than going back to the main menu first and exiting the sim properly. Not sure.

4k at 30 fps ultra settings TLOD 400?

I could barely run 1080p on my 1080ti.  Then again I had a 4790K so that may have been why.  I could do high with tlod 200 with some weather and some AI and maintain about 25 fps.

Not very nice though.  60 is the minimum I prefer.

In nvidia control panel, I set latency to "Ultra" and capped fps in control panel, and this solved my stuttering problem with panning.

Using vsync either in-game or in the control panel gives me stutter in pan.  So vsync off works for me in my current setup which is as follows:

4090+ Frame Gen + TAA + 4K ultra(mostly) + 60 hz refresh rate (no gysnc/freesync)

do you also have reflex turned on sim along with ultra latency set in the NCP ?

😂 No, TLOD 100. Mix of ultra and medium settings.

Ah that explains it then.  100 is too near for me but I fly GA.  I can imagine flying pmdg and being okay with that setting.

Not sure if you have a G-sync display? If you don’t, I strongly encourage it.

Now that I’ve flipped Frame Generation on, I did some digging into the best settings for situations where FPS can exceed display refresh (Hz). For G-sync displays, and DX12 with a 4xxx card:

- NV CP… V-Sync on, ultra low latency mode disabled/off, G-sync enabled (both windowed and full screen if you pop-out panels), frame limit disabled

- Game… V-Sync off, Reflex low latency on, frame generation on

Reflex low latency in game, combined with V-sync in NV CP will cap FPS a few below max refresh rate and G-sync will ensure no tearing. It works perfectly. No latency. No tearing. My FPS is typically around 90-116 on my 120Hz LG C1 OLED.

I have said many other times, what is the difference from 30, 60, or 90 frames, as long as u get a butter smooth flight.  As I mentioned earlier in this thread, flying with a PMDG 737 flight  KORD into KJFK/Inibuilds, with most settings set on Ultra and a few on High, even if I had the best computer in the world, would I still get a butter smooth flight, especially into KJFK/Inibuilds, at primetime, with full traffic, and overcast clouds, PMDG 737 ?

Basically the key to simming, has always been to get a butter smooth flight!!!  TLOD weather and traffic  are usually the settings that effect performance

I have an 8086K with a 2080ti and run similar. 4k Taa downscaled to 75% and with a second monitor. Mostly smooth 30fps.

Then it's not actually 4k though right?  1620p or something?

There's no difference as long as the view is fixed, but when you rotate the camera to look at your sides, 30 fps feels choppy even on a good real GSync monitor capable of 30 Hz (I have one).

Are we still debating if there's difference between 30 and 60 fps in 2023? 🙂

It would seem so.  I'm a happy simmer if my FPS never drops below 30 FPS. Now I do concede  60 FPS is desirable but not essential and as for 100 plus FPS in a flight sim what is the point?
