August 23, 20232 yr Why would it be open source? I suggest you look up de meaning of open source on Wikipedia or Google. you will see that x-plane definitely is not open source.

They have some opensource code for their tools such as WorldEditor and the toolset used to build the native scenery as well as some libraries to use to develop plugins, but the sim itself is closed source Scenery tools yes, but there's no public repository for the WED source code (or am I blind?). 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

In fact I dont have many games and really dont play any of them. Too busy updating Perth YPPH airport right now.

As of 2021, Minecraft has sold 238 million units. Puts your 12 million users (including gamepass subscriptions) to shame. Why can’t you just accept that X-Plane has its own market? Why does it bother you this much? If you’re trying to sell us on MSFS, it’s not working. In fact, it’s having the complete opposite effect. Edited August 23, 20232 yr by GoranM

They all inject some combination of bump and jiggle into the 6 DOF. That video looked pretty good at times as far as that's concerned, but that's not the 'rails' people complaint about. Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

August 24, 20232 yr Author I wonder if the X-Plane T-38 is an A-model or C-Model? Both really nice for different reasons. A- is pure steam gauge, no autopilot, etc. C- avionics are similar to F-15 & F-16, and even has ICAO waypoints/destinations in it. (still no autopilot, though 😉 ) Which do you guys prefer?

T-38A--but I'm biased. My first assignment after earning my AF wings was instructor school and an immediate return to the back seat of the "white rocket" as an IP. That jet required you to plan, think, and act at high speeds as well as mastering a high-wing loading supersonic jet, and unlike the primary trainer (the T-37A back in those days) it couldn't be counted on to pat you on the fanny and get you home if you didn't stay right on top of it. Most of our not entirely infrequent fatal accidents in ATC (the Air Training Command, aka "American Toy Company" or "Allergic to Combat") were in the T-38A. Like the 100-series fighters it was designed to emulate, it was an exhilarating yet unforgiving beast, and it could and would bite you square in the butt with just a moment's inattention. Playing with modern avionics distracts one from the real essence of the machine, IMHO. August 25, 20232 yr I would love a T45 so we can enjoy our new carrier. Seems no one is interested. Pity.
