Cannot start FSX Gold\Acceleration ?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

All of a sudden my sim decided to stop working and not start from Icon, or anywhere else ( Even trying to use the FSX.exe from the FSX tree in the C:\

All I was doing was installing one of my addonns,I have had for years. Feelthere LEGACY; After accepting the gauges I restarted  FSX and began to get this message:

ERROR ID=25

(Null)

Then (ok) after clicking this...Nothing...?

I Googled this and it tells  me it's a common problem with "Activation" I have had the sim working in this computer flawlessly for over seven years...And it starts now with this HeadAche!

Can anyone assist/ advice, Please.

(More Info)

Upon clicking the .exe in the program tree under my C:\ I am now getting an ERROR CODE:8- 0000006

Have you tried uninstalling the Feelthere Legacy to see if that resolves the problem?

Hello Bill, Yes I tried that too, didn't help I am afraid to say, Legacy loads with engines off and no power, Cold & Dark, unlike all my other a/c's

Upon checking, I'm desperate I found that there's a registry value one can check and change and that might fix the activation problem I am having. The Registry value is:

[HKLM\software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog](DWORD)1 Changing the last value to "1" But I got stuck finding the Fusion! Part.

How in the world does activating assembly failure logging fix an activation issue??

Bob, Thanks for your reply. I am only a user and as such I try to get by solving my issues with what I know and can handle. This suggestion I found posted in Google seemed to point to my issue, but as I wrote above I got stuck and couldn't find that value, so I quit and decided to post, on other avenues for perhaps easier help ?

Maybe you can shed some easy light on this to help me. I've even considered uninstalling/reinstalling to build a whole new FSX\Accl.

Completely uninstalled FeeThere Legacy, restated computer, but upon clicking my DeskTop icon all i still get:

ERROR  ID =25

(Null)

I Uninstalled FSX today via Control Panel.

When Installing again and getting to the end of Acceleration, all of a sudden the disc came out of the drive and I got an error message:

ERROR NUMBER 0x80040702

Description Failed To Load DLL:Gamer

Set Up will now terminate.

Just out of interest, reading from others with this problem, have you tried going to its location (Fsx) and running Fsx.exe, rather than trying to start Fsx with the desktop shortcut.?

you may want to investigate this as you’ve uninstalled Fsx.

I forgot a step. This is what I did.

The last time I tried to install FSX, and getting the dreaded
"Unhandled Exception
Error Number:0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxinstallHelper
Setup will now terminate.",
Out of frustration, I looked into Disc #2 and found the 'MSXML.MSI'. I clicked it and it ran the 'MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and Setup Wizard" (whatever that is)

Then, I looked in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X" and found the "GameuxinstallHelper.dll"
I had then copied, CTRL+INSERT, the DLL.
Then went to the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" and pasted that DLL to that location of which it was missing.
I then ran the installer once again and this time FSX loaded completely, without any issues so far.
I don't know what exactly was changed or why but, it seems to have fixed this issue.

Hello MaDDogz:

Yes I tried to run FSX from the FSX.exe located under myC:\

Gave me the same results, I'm afraid to say.

Very useful information, now I know I'm not alone!

I too have no idea why this changed, I'm no computer savi, but I venture sometimes to the unknown. But always usubg Cardinal Rule: " Make a BackUp"

I will proceed as you indicate and hope it solves my issue as well and I'll report...

Thanks.

Fallowed your steps and FSX loaded to my default flight 😀 I flew the flight and all went well. But! after landing and taxiing to parking I got CTD'ed, it said registration required ? I thought once FSX was registered in one machine, which in my case is the same one I have been using the past 7 years I wouldn't have to do this again ? How do I get to the registration page again? So I can write in the keys.

Thanks.

If Fsx hasn’t been registered you get 30 mins trial.

restarting Fsx should prompt for your activation code.

if not , you’ll need to check a file in your registry

“Sky wolf” explains how here.

FSX Boxed Gold Edition got activated fine yesterday but Acceleration DVD didn't activate properly.  (I only did this as I just got PMDG JS4100).

For Acceleration  - this is the way to do it.

1. run regedit (Windowskey +R)
2. Expand the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS\{4D36E967-
E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. After you find the folder, double-click Upperfilters on the right side.
4. Delete all other values except PartMgr
5. Close Registry Editor
6. Start FSX / Accel and you should get the registration wizard.

Now after installing FSX Gold edition and activation - I ran FSX and then I installed Acceleration.  To get the Acceleration Activation Prompt - I had to follow the above steps.

For me the value for PartMgr was there already - I just retyped it again as PartMgr (pay attention to Upper and Lowercase) - do this exactly.

And fire up FSX ---- the internet activation prompt for Acceleration will come and I got that activated just fine.

I have done all this, not being computer savi, my hands shake when I get to the registry, let alone editing it, yes at one point some days ago I went in there because i was getting an error message and i Googled and an answer led me to this, in there i found that somehow in the Upperfilters the PartMgr was spelled partmgr ???

So I changed it to PartMgr and all went well aftr that. until this present activation issue started.

I just did again this and checked I had spelled PartMgr as is here, closed the registry. BTW my DeskTop FSX Icon doesn't work as I describe in my reply # 3 To Charliearon; I am trying to start FSX from the .exe in the FSX Tree, though I manage I don't get the registration page?

Now I am also getting a message the Dem4km.bgl is missing or broken,I too got this message some days ago and moved that file from a FSX copy I have on an Ext.Drive and that helped getting rid of tht message too, until now. I Just checked and the file is present and the population density.bgl file as well, but I don't get FSX's Splash Screen as described in a video I found describing how to solve the Dem4km.bgl issue. The video has no sound so I have done only what I think the author attempted to describe, click on the DEm4km.bgl file and then on the population density.bgl file then the splash screen opens on the video. (Not for me though)

Yeh…not sure. 1 gremlin after another.

if you google the file name there’s some tips to try. 1 tip is to right click the DEm4km.bgl file and open with Fsx. Or try repairing from the install discs  although that hardly ever works.

Copied from another post

If the file is missing or corrupt you can restore it from your install disks.

It is located in MSGAME8.cab
A cab file can be opened and files extracted with any good unzipping program.

The file is located here in this path : C:\program files\microsoft games\microsoft flight simulator x\scenery\base\scenery

I would suggest you to try a repair installation of the game. If you still have FSX installed, just put the disc in and do a repair option. It should install the missing file for you.

Hello MaDDogz After all these gremlins, as you say, things just get too complicated for me, so I went drastic and uninstalled FS via Control Panel, as it finished the desktop icon was still present, if this  has anything to do with it? And my shortcut to FSX, which I know shouldn't get uninstalled because is not part of the program.

Despite running the repair option my desktop icon still shows ERROR ID=25 From there Icannot go any further so I don't know if the Dm4km.bgl fault has been fixed?

All files and folders, .dlls' etc.... are still present under programs x (86)\Microsoft\Microsoft games\Flight Simulator X; I cannot run FSX from the icon in the folder it tells me:

Flight Simulator was unable to load some program files and will now exit.

Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair the program installation.

BTW: After it finished installing I did not get the activation page ?

Back to GremlinsI am afraid to say.

Thanks for your imput.
