September 1, 20232 yr I feel compelled to use this forum to thank Oliver and all the folks who participated in the huge thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/axis-and-ohs-help-and-questions/196415 Thanks to the invaluable info in that thread, I was able to complete the programming of the array of rotary encodrers I just built: I decided to build this after years of using the Knobster and getting quite tired of having to change modes constantly because of the single rotary. This works so much better. I used double rotary encoders with a button push I purchased from propwashsim.com and the fantastic little Micro BBI controllers (I used two of them) from Leo Bodnar. To emulate the panning joystick of the G1000, I used an 8-way hat from my box of junk and modified it to include a button push to turn the panning mode on and off. I am very pleased with how it all works. The programming was tricky but the forementioned thread helped immensely enabling me to add adequate acceleration to the HDG, CRS and IAS. I really wanted to take advantage of outer and inner knobs to control Altitude X1000 and X100 which I finally figured out. Very happy with that. I would not have even attempted this project had it not been for AAO. I'm not even sure how I would have done it without this fine program. Having come from X-Plane where I am quite comfortable using Lua, DataRefs and Commands, this project has provided me much experience with MS Events and Variables which is most exciting. I am happy to show any specifics you might have or field questions. Thanks again and hope it's not inappropriate to post this in the support forum. -mark X-Plane 12, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Nvidia RTX 5090, Asus ROG Strix X870E-E mb, 96GB DDR5 (6800MHz), 4TB SSD, Triple Monitor 1440p, Windows 11, FliteSim CLS-120 Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo, TurtleBeach VelocityOne Pedals, RealSimGear G1000 Suite, PropWash Radio Stack, Tobii Tracker 5, Asus Xonar U5 sound card.
September 2, 20232 yr Commercial Member Hello Mark, very nice, thank you for posting this! Those Bodnar boards are basically joystick controllers, right? Btw - I have a prototype of AAO for X-Plane. If you want to try that too, send me an email to the WTS support address (last page of the AAO manual). Cheers Oliver LORBY-SI
September 3, 20232 yr Author Cool! I can try out my panel in X-Plane using AAO. That should be a fun project. I'll be in touch.
