SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2023 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Posted by: Microsoft Flight Simulator Team

pcdyoung.jpeg

This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user pcdyoung, featuring the Campout Utility add-on by 3rd party developer //42. If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below!

A new pre-release test build (1.34.14.0) is available now for those enrolled in the Sim Update 13 public beta. You can read the release notes on the forums here. Based on feedback from testers so far, we have noticed positive improvements in this build to the long loading time issue which we discussed in last week’s blog post. Some testers also remarked that they are seeing smoother performance in 1.34.14.0 compared to previous test builds.

The Microsoft Flight Simulator Community Team will be at the Reno Air Races next week from September 13-17! If you’re attending the National Championship Air Races — the last year they will be hosted in Reno — stop by our booth and say hello! We always love meeting sim pilots and fellow aviation enthusiasts.

COMMUNITY FLY-IN

Every year on September 7 (Sete de Setembro), millions of Brazilians celebrate their country’s independence day. To mark the occasion, this week our Fly-In Friday group flight will be returning to South America for a flight over some of Brazil’s beautiful beaches and the culturally-rich city of Rio de Janeiro.

Event details are available here. All are welcome to participate!

An aircraft flies towards the Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. Community Fly-In: Brazil. Join us on Friday September 8th at 1800Z. Watch at twitch.tv/msfsofficial!

COMMUNITY VIDEO

The first community video of September comes from Greek Youtuber AviatorCro. California Dreamin’ is the first part of a new cinematic series aiming to “bring different regions to life through the lens of flight simulator”. From the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco, to the Griffiths Observatory watching over LA, the state of California looks more inviting than ever thanks to this very well captured and edited virtual glimpse of (or at??) The Golden State! We can’t wait to see the next episode in this series from AviatorCro. What region would you love to see highlighted?

Is this accurate?  The roadmap screenshot is dated July 6, 2023.

Noticed that too, looks like they posted an old one by accident? All the WU/SU stuff is still "TBA" and I think the SU13 date might've slipped (otherwise it's out in 2 weeks?)

It will simply carry on over to the next Version of 2024 and so on. When is the next MS QnA? not asking scotchegg  direct but what is going on here?

I noticed this as well: more and more weekly updates do no longer come with the the wishlist/buglist anymore. Funny enough that the absence of those two lists coincede with several immersion breaking bugs existing since release finally ending up on this list...

The roadmap is only updated every 3 months or so, they mentioned this in one of the Dev Q&A live streams. So this is not a mistake, it works just as intended.

Take a look at end of October, there's even an item "Dev Roadmap Update Oct/Jan", wouldn't expect a new roadmap before that date.

Should be updated every month in my opinion, then it moves forward at a steady pace. As it is now we get to the end of the three months and don't know what's happening the following month, then the next month we get the next three months then at the end.... doesn't make sense to me, but then these weekly posts have been pretty much pointless since day dot anyway bar the odd one with some useful insights.

I agree, they should update the roadmap more frequently, and a monthly cadence seems preferable to me.

Just saying the outdated July roadmap isn't shown by accident (as was assumed earlier on in this thread), it's fully intentional.

I see the discussion thread for this update on MSFS forums has a number of pointed comments about the lack of info contained in these updates with a suggestion that perhaps they should move them to a monthly basis.

Give people power to really test their personality.

These synchronous turning windmills in the video look awful.
