Floating Runway Lights

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering how many people here experience runway lights that float oven the ground at certain airports in certain condition(and especially at night.)  A quick Google search showed I'm not the only one experiencing this issue, and I hope it is fixed for the next version.

yep!  But then if you restart the flight at your destination airport all is ok??  Happens from time to time, never figured it out.

Yes, I have seen this on multiple occasions at various airports. The issue seems to come and go. Very strange and it can really throw off your approach when it happens.

There is some sort of strange underlying issue with photogrammetry and slow loading mesh causing elevation issues at airports.  I don't consider myself a developer, but I do some terrain smoothing trying to fix things that are broken.  I was specifically trying to fix runway 21 at Sedona, extend the bluff and get rid of the trees sticking up in the approach path.  For some reason the SDK would just not cooperate.  Although airport mesh is great when its great, its terrible and flight ruining when it isn't.  You don't say what airport spcificially, but I notice this issue as well as floating trees at airports with Photogrammetry nearby.

This is why I felt so bad for Taxi2Gates big MCO comeback.  Everyone said "get it together guys" but Asobo has done some wierd stuff with airports and photogrammetry.  Look at the state of DFW currently.  It's possible that a even a 3rd party secenery wouldn't fix the issue.

I've seen this issue since FSX days and I still see it in MSFS. Floating lights in a modern day sim is so bad. I really hope they address this issue. This is one area where X-Plane is better.
