Have they fixed the permanent icy winter with real time weather at Milford Sound?

Bruce

That was my first thought as well.

I'm afraid this is something that cannot be fixed by a scenery developer.

It's a shame this long standing most annoying bug of MSFS is affecting in particular some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Great news is Sergio (the original NZMF freeware developer) is part of the NZA team and this been his primary project. Sergio, myself and  the team have been working hard to give it some NZA x-factor. I'm glad its being compared to 2024 as this is what were going for.

Congrats to Sergio for making the well-deserved transition from freeware contributor to full developer. So many of us enjoyed his freeware NZMF - and it's great to see such talent put to good use! He was always helpful and courteous.

NZMF has always been the "Jewel in the Crown" for NZ scenery (if not the whole world, IMHO) so I expect/hope sales will go through the roof!

Sadly this scenery will be useless half the time of the year using live weather due to the ridiculous snow coverage bug which is still not fixed more than three years after the release of MSFS...

I'm confused about this. I'm not saying it's not true - but I just did a flight from NZQN using REX Weather and got decent/realistic snow coverage. Or is it that you're saying it's not *natively* displayed correctly (and there we need 3rd party addons to make it happen <??>.

That's OK - you're lucky it wasn't a No.2 LOL!

Hey Adam, maybe Rex fixes it?...last flight in NZMF I had a few weeks ago, IIRC had frozen sea ice which never happens there... same issue at MtCook and Glen Tanner

REX «fixes» this, yes, I was talking about native MSFS live weather...

I don't know if that's ever going to get a proper fix in the current sim. But a RW pilot did post some pretty nice weather presets for NZ over on flightsim.to. I haven't tried them all yet but what I've seen so far looks good.

EDIT: I should have been clear that I didn't test these to see if snow coverage was changed. In my defence, I'm only on my first cup of coffee this morning lol.

The issue is with the default live weather. It has kept me from flying in beautiful regions like the Alps, Alaska and Norway for most of the time; it's a shame.

But maybe it is time to give REX weather another go now.
