Looks great. Guess I'll have to finally start flying in New Zealand.

I am just getting in now along with the free expansion pack for the area, and their other freeware.  New Zealand is a great place to explore, so I might just pack it out and get it as good as I can.  I already bought Wellington from Orbx.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio!

It looks really nice, but quite demanding on performance, it drop from 75 fps to 45 with a Cessna 152 for me.

Yes, all other areas around the outskirts are fine, but I have quite a significant FPS hit around Milford Sound airport itself.

You do expect some FPS hit with complex scenery of course, but there has to be a balance between complexity and smoothness, and it is just the wrong side of the line for me at the moment.

Obviously we all want it to look nice, but landing there wasn't the smoothest experience.  It is the first release version, so hopefully they can take a look at it and optimise it a bit.

I wish there was an option to reduce the stones, birds, and a bit less flora maybe, but then again, I don't know what the significant factor is on causing the performance loss myself.

I will just say that it is very nice, and it is obvious a lot of work has gone into it.

Yes, I was a bit surprised by the poor performance, as you say outside the airport itself everything is ok, the waterfalls was stunning, but I wonder what is causing the loss of performance at the airport, because it is not like a big high-res international airport with dozens of airliners taking off and landing all the time.

Anyone know if you can spawn at one of the helipads? I haven't picked the scenery up yet and can't find that info in their PDF.

Aerosoft Antartica suffers from the same issue.  I don't know if the stones / boulders (on the flat surfaces, not the rocks or cliffs) are a native sim object, but the Antarctica scenery has lots of them as well - just guessing really, because like you say, I wouldn't expect the airport building and the flora around it to cause such an issue.

Yes, I was able to spawn at at least one helipad.

I did find ORBX NZ Mesh conflicts with the area.

might want to have a look at the BGLs in their scenery sub-directory and try renaming some with obvious names into xyz.bgl.OFF, some seals etc. might get killed along the way. that has helped in similar situations elsewhere like iniBuilds Heathrow. I love it when scenery developers publish super smooth demo videos that often were recorded in slow motion which then look fantastic afterwards in pseudo real time playback. there is a reason Microsoft puts "captured in 4K real time 60 fps" in their trailers. how about that NZA?

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

There is probably some scope to back off a few MSFS settings a touch if your system cannot handle it. Much as people like to set and forget, the game makes it really easy to tweak settings depend where you fly.

what good are those if you already have the most powerful CPU/GPU?

Jeez, Seal clubbing? This thread turned dark rather quickly! 🙃

Renaming some .bgl files to .off will probably improve performance.
While aesthetically nice, how much of a difference will some Seals, Cattle, and a few rocks around an airfield make to the overall flying experience?

if it helps with fps by renaming some unnecessary BGLs into BGL.OFF like these poor guys might disappear.

don't know. poor fps has to come from something. it's up to the developer, not the customer to find out and offer options during installation. I don't want to have to experiment with MSFS global settings that would affect all other areas as well, just for a single add-on.
