A2A install not working on V6...

Recommended Posts

I have the "registry fix" with a fake v5 install. It worked beautifully with the PMDG 777, but whenever I run any of the A2A installers for v5 it says it can't find a valid V5 install 😞 I've decided to stick to V6 and use my sim budget in ir, só, I don't really want to buy p3dv5 to be able to fly the A2As...

Suggestions / hints really welcome 😁

I typically don't try to point the installers elsewhere.  The approached that has worked well for me:

  • Install P3DV5.4
  • Install whatever add-on I have to P3DV5.4 (most including A2A use the Add-on.cfg method)
  • Copy folders from P3D V5 files to V6 for add-ons, V6 will pick them up and automatically add them (at least for A2A).
  • For some add-ons, might need to manually update the V6 add-ons.cfg using copy of V5 add-ons.cfg as a guide.
  • Orbx is slightly different but they have new V6 support now so don't need to do anything special and both V5 and V6 point to same scenery library.
  • For the more difficult add-ons, use Revo Uninstaller ... it will monitor all the files and registry entries made for any installer and then provide a detail list of what was modified/added.  Use that list to copy the necessary files to V6 and make any new registry changes.

Some products will check reported P3D version and not continue or disable features.  These can be tricked also, but much harder to do and might violate usage terms etc.  After looking at SimMarket, many V5 products are now being listed as V6 supported also ... not exactly sure what burden that places on the developers, but I assume they gave the go ahead for including V6.  Fortunately all the major add-ons I use work well in V6.

When did this happen?

Well, all fine now - I was finally able to install the A2As in the Gorgeous v6 😁👍

Was really missing that feel that A2A was able to recrate in their props... in fsx/p3d like in no other platform, as much as I have tried to like their MFS port of the Comanche with no success...

I can only hope that the future can bring them back to P3d, now V6 then v7...

Nice you got them working. Yeah, a sim without a2a is no real sim 😄 But comparing the older accusim v1 in p3d and the newer accusim v2 is quite interesting. The MSF is no port and a completely brand new model and underlying engine. And the real world Comanche Owners involved in the new Comanche were telling a different story in comparison to p3d. Just curious, what is exactly you are not liking in the MFS Comanche?

On the p3d front I still could not find any reason to get past v5 on my end. And I doubt a2a will join the p3d train back even if it would be better for keeping the alternatives alive. But it is what it is.

Cheers T.

I like to know this as well, as my Orbx Central still doesn't want to know about my V6 install.

@SparkriteI searched but there isn't yet a v6-ready Orbx Central...

@Torsen Torsen, I didn't yet try the Comanche in v6, but out of my now around 1 month old memory of having flown the A2A Comanche in MFS, there are, among other, doubts regarding the realism with which:

.) it leaves the ground on takeoff, as if it is glued and all of a sudden get's "released"...

.) the way it exhibits absolutely no drag effects from a deep forward sleep, in landing configuration...

.) the bumpiness on landing...

I didn't like any of these... But I will try now in v6 and see how it goes 🙂
