New FSX airport released

Recommended Posts

You could download and fly it in demo to see it. I hope to God that they bothered with developing a custom runway texture and gave us a choice during install. I think, they have custom Runway textures.. Woo hoo!:)

I tried the demo. It stops working after 3 or 4 mins tho. not really enough time to look around. It was very slow but seemed a bit better than default. I think i'll pass cause it is too slow to fly around.E6580 3Ghz4GB RAMNvidia 8800GTX Screen shots go in the Screen shot forum please..thank you

Yeah.. I just tried the demo. I thought I got a hit too. But wasn't sure . I didn't check the FPS prior to the addon install. So wasn't sure.I'll have to uninstall and then go back in to see.I'll have to give him a shout out for not using default runway and taxiway textures. Manny

Look at the real runway texture here. Note the touch down zone.http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1280009/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1157342/L/And here.. Its repeating tiles? The black tire marks are all over the center line like default runway texture. Like the aircraft touches down all through the runway. Is it really hard to develop a single runway block, without using repeating tiles? How do Fly Tampa and Flight scenery manage that?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179463.jpg

>The black tire marks are all>over the center line like default runway texture. Like the>aircraft touches down all through the runway. You can clearly see here:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0522315/L/That the center line is much darker, all along the way.I agree, though, that should be more difference between the touchdown zone and the center zone. We might change the tdz to appear larger and stroger, and the center ligher.Having said that, why haven't you posted a suggestion on our forum ? I would get much better chance to be noted and implemented.>Is it really hard to develop a single runway block, without>using repeating tiles? Of course the runway doesn't use any repeating tiles. It is developed as as single block BUT, Zurich real world runway, even if it's not so apparent from the Airliners picture you posted (taken at an angle), but is quite visible here:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0410875/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0912834/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0688835/L/Does have a very checkered and tiled appearance, it's one of its characteristic. I do recall having landed there (as a passenger) last winter, and the first unusual thing I noticed of the runway, was that it resembled a regular patchwork. So yes, tiling was intententional. Of course, there are always improvements possible to the perceived randomness of the tiling and to the alternance of colors used.

virtuali,Thanks for your post. Yeah.. I could have registered and posted at you site. True. But to be honest, my frustration of seeing add on vendors using default runway textures or something that looks like default textures is a new problem that has taken on significance post FSX. And I think, its important to bring this out in the open. This is not a spite on you or your work per se. It's the whole airport add on industry that seems to be going in this direction. But I also need to acknowledge the few airport vendors left. You, UK2000 and Aerosoft are the only ones who are doing airport addons for FSX at this stage... so its even more difficult to say anything negative for fear of discouraging airport addon vendors. Many folks may disagree with me and that is their right. I have an opinion and I am going to point it out every time a default runway texture is used. I feel passionate about this. (Your Zurich does not use default runway texture for the record). Now, Since you said that the tire marks all over the center line is not something you cannot change.. I am excited and exhilarated at your attitude. You could have taken a totally negative attitude and told me to take a hike... And for that I am thankful. Mind you,. I don't want this thing against default runway texture against the ACES team either.. no matter how good they produce a texture, it would be repeated to 4000 runways.... so this is not about them.. This is about addons airport....and its about a single persons opinion on the matter. Mine and Mine alone... for whatever its worth.I would love to grab your airport with a better runway texture... I am thirsty for it. Manny
