I'm sure brinx appreciates you speaking for him/her, but perhaps you could let brinx respond personally.  He/she may have a different opinion to yourself.

Rest assured, I will tag you if/when I feel we can engage in a discussion.

Have a nice day.  🙂

He wasn’t spreading mis information. He was giving his opinion. A whole world of difference. And now you’re trying to be smart, by assuming what brinx wants.

No need to tag me, I’m in the discussion all ready. That’s why it’s called a discussion forum.

His opinion IS misinformation.

What???

Working Title has really spoilt me with their incredible updates to the G1000 NXi and G3000 in MSFS so I'm extremely pleased to see that LR is working on improving the G1000 (and adding SVS) in X-Plane. It's a shame that it's not coming until at least 12.1.0 but I'm a patient man. Knowing that it's in the works is enough to keep me happy.

…..but still no word on new scenery tech?

What they mention in the interview, they are working on the recut of the global scenery (starting at 49:10) and that they also acknowledge that the dsf scenery system is 20 years old and rather just than adding things and fixing bugs they are looking at what comes after dsf and have ideas' of what they want to put in to whatever that is, but they wouldn't elaborate on what that is. But they did talk about adding things like boats, snow depth accumulation and getting rid of the starwars rain effect. So there is movement in that area, they are just not talking about it right now but those are good things to look forward to.

I am of similar opinion.

Scratching my head. What misinformation?

Now a price increase is the reason for financial need??

Please explain how I'm spreading misinformation. Laminar states, "This will allow us to continue expanding our team". So, without the increase they would be unable to continue expanding the team. This does not require a financial 101 course to understand.

Regardless, a sudden 33% price increase in the current version of any application is definitely surprising to me.

You mean a conspiracy theory? 'misinformation' is a typical label to shut down conversation.

They did say they want to expand the team, hence the price increase. Goran do you have access to Laminar financials statements?

What???

Three question marks? Was it really that hard to understand? One would suffice. His opinion is his opinion. It’s not mis information. Unless he categorically stated it was a fact, which he didn’t.

He’s just as much entitled to an opinion as you are. He thinks it’s for financials, you don’t. Both of you are neither right or wrong, it’s just two opinions. But telling him he is wrong, just because you don’t like his opinion, without any supporting facts? Nope. 👎

IMO XP12 should sell for $100, and not less...

This would help define the users and setting a next level of commitment of LR to the future of development...

They offer a level of detail, by default, which is high enough to justify that price... Users pay more than that for some addons!

I still recall when XP was selling for $750, or $500 if I'm not wrong ... v2 I guess, but the demo was available for free, running 5 or 10 min...

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

The price increase is a symptom of a diminishing market share and decrease in sales. As a result, they've had to increase prices to account for the drop. Which in turn, will likely continue the spiral.

MSFS is eating Laminar's breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sadly, this is probably the start of the spiral down for X-Plane. Laminar just hasn't innovated in years. They had a long chance to make significant innovations & fundamental changes to fill the void that existed since FSX -> MSFS2020 and they didn't.

I'm curious how you know this, do you have access to their sales and accounts? In fact, their team size has increased over the years and now they want to hire even more people, therefore they need to pay those people, as well as catching up with inflation, it seems simple enough to me and not a imminent sign of a dying sim. X-Plane has been around for years and has always been somewhat of a niche product overshadowed by Microsoft, so I don't see how MSFS is killing it when it was never really their target market in the first place.

Lots of discussion about this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/16z6ir3/xplane_price_increase/

One thing someone there mentioned seemed a bit interesting and related to the niche market thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/16z6ir3/xplane_price_increase/k3di78m/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

"In their latest dev discord recording, Austin was very clear. They are shifting priority to the pro market. It make sense to excel in a niche market than going against goliath."

As far as I know it’s the opposite. Never had they sold as many copies from any release-version as from XP12. And they are much bigger than 10 years ago. So it looks much more like a success tbh.

3 weeks ago I was on vacation in Egypt - really true, that's (amongst others) one reason why I was quite quiet recently. That aside, I visited the temple of Luxor, and to my surprise I found in the farthest chamber tomb an epitaph "X-Plane will die." Unfortunately, what died was my camera due to the heat and I couldn't make an evidence photo. The next time I travel again to Luxor, I'll try again ...

I wonder, if in over 3,000 years avsim still exists and if so, some historians will find the "X-Plane will die." writings here (as digital formats won't last 3,000 years, they possibly will be printed again on papyrus), they will laugh their a..es off about this much ignorance  😆 .

Oohhh, they did innovate a lot. However, more for the "hardcore simmer"TM - as can be seen in the above roadmap update. E.g. better landing gear physics, cooling the oil through the fuel in jets (how cool 😁 is that?), sparks from engines/fuselages touching the ground at speed (how hot 🔥 is that?), etc.. Other users are satisfied with less ...
