SWS PC12, Black Square Duke and TBM 850, embarrassing choice

Featured Replies

With these three GA advanced simulations on short final, some embarrassing choices are ahead!

These three aircraft are all unique in their own respects and can't really be compared except that all of them have turbine engines (the Duke will also come in a piston version), and all have steam instruments. The Black Square developer makes a good point encouraging us to use only steam gauges to navigate and avoid any screen, this is what I was used to back "then" in the real world...  before GPS existed.

What are you going to choose? Which one(s) appeals the most to you? I am having a hard time to make up my mind (I already have the Black Square King Air, Cessna 414, Bonanza, TB21) to be ready and press on the upcoming "purchase" button, so I thought reading some of your comments may help a bit!

That is a very good question. If all were made by the same dev I'd pick the TBM and the PC12 but Raul is doing a fantastic job on the M500 and we haven't really seen the SWS PC12 in action yet...so I'm not sure. The Duke won't be out for a while as far as I understand.

I'm quite happy with my Carenado PC12 at this point honesty, it's been patched and improved since release.

I may grab the Black Square Duke, but as far as 850s I just don't care for them enough to buy an addon for one.

They all appeal to me.  Sexy turboprops, with mostly analog display (save for the Piper M500 which I'll also purchase), and multiple GPS options.  I love general aviation and I love flying fast!

I will buy them all.  My wife might not be happy though haha!

Their TBM850 has also the option to choose either Steam Gauges or GPS (I think the GTN750 at least), according to existing videos of the product.

I'm going to put my foot down as the man of the house and simply remind her who the boss is. Which is her, of course. And then I'll grovel for her forgiveness when I buy all three late at night when she's asleep but then she sees the activity on the card the next day. But...I'll have them 🤓

I'm really quite happy with the Carenado PC12 particularly after the last round of updates.  So for me, and owning the  Blacksquare Kingair and other analogue conversions, I am really looking forward to the TBM850.  Plus you'll get to recreate all of Stevos TBM flights in, around and out of Miami.

I one of those weirdos who prefers modern avionics over steam gauges so I likely won't be grabbing any of the above. I'm patiently waiting for Raul's Piper M500 to drop.

I simply will not tell my wife. Cause, you know, she scares me.

Just got the 310R simply because I can have 2 tds 750 show up and to compare with the Comanche.

I will wait for Raul's Piper M500. definite buy.

I'm the same, although even more awkward and it must do FL400+ and not have a prop..... Was considering a couple of them, but going over my flight log it would be money wasted.

That said, for those that appreciate them it's a great selection of aircraft incoming.....

Black Square Duke and the PC12 for me…both aircraft I’m very interested in.  I’m sure the TBM850 will be great but I already have the default 900 that I never fly.

IIRC SWS will release a NG/glass cockpit version of the PC-12 eventually, unless plans have changed.

I think I will have to get both the PC-12 and the TBM, to be honest. The PC-12 is my favourite aircraft full stop, but I also like the TBM a lot, and since it seems to be more fully simulated with failures etc at least on release - AND be released earlier - I won't be able to wait. 😁

The Duke is a twin, and I don't really like those. Might change, though....
