I agree with you on the first part of your post.

Over the past 15 years I've completed well over 2000 flights with the PMDG 737 and 747 aircraft and in not a single one of them I thought "oh word not allowed, I could make good use of an EFB right now".

I got charts on my second screen, from the FMC I get correct vr and v2 speeds and I can access all aircraft options from there aswell and current METARs do I get from vPilot by just typing .wx ICAO.

The single thing I'll use the EFB for is for v1 speeds. Not much.

Hence I don't really understand the hype about the PMDG EFB.

I also use the Navigraph Charts app on a separate iPad, so don’t really need it in the sim cockpit. Those who use VR however would probably find it very useful. It would be nice to have the ability to close and open doors, set or release chocks etc. from the EFB screen. That feature is apparently in the “yet to come” category.

One thing that appears to be possible (looking at the UI screenshot), would be to update the Simbrief winds aloft forecast in flight. I always import the winds for my route to refine the PROG forecasts. On a longer flight, the forecast winds might be updated and it would be handy to be able to get the enroute latest winds and descent forecast.

The takeoff performance calculator appears to use the current METAR wind and OAT for the departure airport which should give better predictions of takeoff distance - especially when using reduced thrust.

When Fenix ever releases version 2 Block 2 "whatever they call it" he will then become the new A320 Expert, this guy is the new clickbait. 😅

1) Immersion. I mean in your argumentation there's no need for a virtual cockpit either, because it works with 2D too. Some people don't like to use 5 different tools / devices / windows / monitors / whatever for flying an aircraft in a realistic way.

2) Takeoff perf calculation. That's a fundamental for airliner simulation, be it for safety on short runways (FMC won't tell you "Don't!" when you want to takeoff with MTOW on a 3000 feet runway...) or for the simuluation of the omnipresent economic factor via derated takeoffs (engine wear, fuel, noise etc.). Oh and landing distance calculation is also very important for safety, especially in bad weather.

Personally all I need is a takeoff perf calulator, landing distance calculator and METARs on an EFB. I can't stand using charts on a virtual EFB, I use my iPad for it. Anyway it makes sense to offer as much as possible, so most customers are happy, I guess.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Can't wait to read all the hate that is sure to erupt a few seconds after the PMDG EFB is released. 🤪

What’s wrong with his videos?

is he not allowed to fly more than one type of aircraft?

When he sticks to operating the 737, nothing. They're informative and easy to follow.

It's when he opines on other developers' products or flying aircraft he doesn't have experience on, his views are incredibly binary.

Clearly you don’t, because his videos are very far from clickbait.

No offense, but it’s comments like this that unnecessarily stir the pot and create drama before there is even drama.

Oh well, excuse me, I guess I was mistaken. All will be happy times when it is released.  LOL...😁

He's flying the A330 now and did a video on the Fenix A320 once in which he made some wrong assumptions about the landing behavior of the A320 and Fenix's implementation by erroneously applying the knowledge of the A330 and I guess people will hold that grudge forever now.

He’s a type rated on the airbus A330 now as well.
