EFB looks good.

Someone pointed out that the Flight Details and OFP in the photos were for the 777F.

They'll probably follow a similar release schedule as P3D. Start with the not so popular -200LR/F, then the more popular -300ER.

Is it possible, is it just slightly possible, that they mean GSX? I know there's never been any love lost between PMDG and FSDT, but intergration between the two would be amazing (like it was in FSLabs and can be with the Fenix using Fenix2GSX). @virtual anything you can comment on?

No GFO in which is "Global Flight Operations" https://pv.pmdg.com and it will be compatible for P.C. users from P3Dv4 and up, MSFS P.C. and XBOX they have said this hundreds of times on their forum.

"There are other additional features coming which we will detail in later posts- and we have also begun to coordinate with some outside developers in order to bring direct access to their applications right from within the PMDG Universal Flight Tablet. This will allow for some really neat integrations with the applications and tools that you love- all right from within the tablet, without breaking realism, and without needing to have 20 pop-up screens managed all over your desktop."

We know, development time by PMDG means time in astronomical dimensions.

But thats OK, next week we have a tablet to make some imports and takeoff calculations. thats basically the only thing I am missing for the 737. I am sure, with the next updates, release ofproducts etc there will be smaller functional updates to the tablet.

I would say, let them establish the tablets now, and when the flightsim world knows them better, there will be 3rd party functions and other stuff added over time.

Apologies if I missed it, but will this be pushed out to the DC-6 when it's released?

Pretty shure not, it is make for there Boeings and i belive it does not fit the DC-6..

And the DC-6 has his own kind of Tablett already, don't belive there would be a change .

cheers 😉

lol so one more week after last week said efb was ready, they are a meme xd

I am looking forward to all of the posts from enthusiastic whingers (sorry, customers) thanking PMDG for providing the UFT at no extra charge. I am sure that the flight simulation community spirit will be universally lifted by the outpouring of love and gratitude

But don’t they stress it’s an universal tablet? So based on that it should fit. But I also admit that I only read about their Boeing fleet

Oh great, now they are trying to market spin the name, even though it's still an EFB. Now we're gonna have the 'special' segment of the PMDG enthusiasts screaming down everyone who calls it an EFB -- "BUT IT'S A UFT, IT'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT 😤"

Not to be negative in any way, but....

I just wonder what this new non EFB can do that other Aircraft addon EFB's can´t.

As far as I can see other kown EFB's for A320's BAE-146, MD-82 etc. has almost the exact same functions.

Well it will work in a PMDG aircraft, none of the above will.....

.... the only thing I'm missing is the performance calculations, although GSX integration would be nice to have.

Well, that and a 777.....

That was the whole point of it, wasn't it? To get the functionality people love in their Fenix, BAe, etc, into the PMDG Boeings.

And the reason why it took PMDG longer than others was not due to implementing the most amazing EFB ever, it was due to technical difficulties as there was no real way for communicating between the wasm based aircraft and the JavaScript based tablet. PMDG spent a lot of time inventing a workaround that wasn't needed anymore after SU13 was released.

Could this have been done any faster? Probably, but as RR said, they didn't have any real JS experience in the team, and probably didn't put the highest priority on it.

I sure will be happy to have the EFB, but then again, the 737 is already an enjoyable aircraft without it.

Yeah, well a 20,000 plus hour check pilot for an airline, thanked them for it's development, on their forum. I guess he doesn't have your expertise, but oh well.

I’ve got more airline experience and think it’s pretty underwhelming, not sure how our airline experience matters in this instance tbh.

It’s an EFB (but called something else as EFBs are apparently limited and clunky) ) but actually lacks many features you get in an IRL  iPad EFB or an IRL integrated EFB or other developers in sim EFBs

I’m really happy it’s finally been developed also but that doesn’t mean it’s particularly great. It’s certainly being oversold in that long forum post, at the moment anyway.

Seems like there’s some cool future integrations on the way at some point in the future. possibly.

It is different it’s not as good as an EFB.

What it will have on initial release is about all you would find on a real Class 1 or 2 EFB: a chart viewer, a flight plan viewer, perhaps a way to fetch METARS/TAF and a performance calculator. Anything else that comes to the “UFT” in the future  would be unique to flight simulation. The ability to set aircraft options or panel states, control aircraft loading, doors, external power etc. would not exist on a “real” EFB.

A real airliner can often directly download flight plans into the FMS and download weight and balance information to automatically load PERF INIT data, but on a real aircraft that would almost always be done via ACARS through an FMS sub menu - not via a EFB - except perhaps in the case of a dedicated Class 3 EFB.
