December 22, 20241 yr Well, I did buy it this weekend after the great sale price appeared. This morning I took the kingair 90 (I flew the 90&200 for quite a few years in the rw) from ksfo to khaf to ktvl (Lake Tahoe) and it was quite enjoyable. Everything is a little simpler to get going and this is quite nice when you’re not in the mood to do a detailed setup or are time limited. Visuals are good. IMHO this is a great purchase and I feel money well spent.
December 24, 20241 yr You guys (plus YouTube videos) are making me want to pull the trigger on buying this! I remember Aerofly FS2 was butter smooth and simple, is Aerofly FS4 like that even with the autogen? And detailed orthos and airports cover the western states and all of the UK and parts of Europe? Might have to buy this tomorrow on sale….
December 24, 20241 yr I purchased it (deluxe pack with all the extra planes for like $50-ish USD, plus I installed the free DLC for higher definition terrain for the US - still need to do the same for Europe). I have to say, I'm really enjoying it! It's just so SMOOTH compared to my other two sims (XP12 and MSFS 2020/2024) - like melted butter, not a single stutter - looks like those videos online where the user's screen looks perfect and never stutters once. What I am trying to find out is how the heck to remove this black "bar" on the bottom of the screen with various instructions or commands or something. Other than that, I love it so far, a good purchase.
December 28, 20241 yr I've dropped in & out since purchase but today I finally did my first proper flight in the Baron, everything was an absolute joy from start to finish. Predominantly using VR I did get the occasional stutters, but seeing as performance is simply excellent overall they were far from troublesome. I need to get used to the view controls and to bind a few more actual controls to buttons & axis, but that first Cold & Dark to Shutdown flight over the Swiss/Italian Alps was fantastic. I miss some things from MSFS that I've got used too over the years, but I'm still investigating what I can do about those (zooming around the cockpit for one and I failed to notice there's an in-game Map until after the flight). What I do want to do is keep this Sim relatively Vanilla so I don't spend time chasing Mod updates and installation faff which can take away a bit of time, just keep it simple with it's incredibly fast load up times and simply "go fly" without worrying about 3rd party apps and such in the background. Sure the lack of Live Weather (I have found an latest METAR app that works well but it's that weather for the entire flight of course) is a disappointment, hopefully that's something they can add in future but it's not a massive deal for me right now. I'm just happy to have an alternative Flight Sim that actually works well in VR! Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
December 29, 20241 yr @MarcG glad to hear you’re also enjoying this sim! We have very similar specs and I, too, got some slight stutter at KLAX looking north from outside view (a hard test for all sims on my rig), I just played with the various graphics options a bit until I got it totally smooth. Today I did a great flight from KPDX to KSEA using the flight planning tools and loved it…everything was just so CLEAR and SMOOTH…never before have I approached KSEA (from the north) stutter free, the whole flight was awesome. Agree with you on keeping things vanilla, though I did download all of the high res packages available on Steam.
