Orbx - Great Britain South Landmarks Release

Featured Replies

ORBX should really publish a list of the landmarks on their website for each release as I'm sure there will be a few in every release that will tempt more people to purchase.  The kml files quoted are marked unavailable btw.

Making them blend in better and less like new buildings would be a plus as well.

You have to be signed in on their forums to download. But I do agree a list would be good on the product page.

These three packages are top of my wanted list now that I have Microsoft Flight Simulator installed. I was going to ask if there is a conflict with the ORBx Landmarks London City package, but I guess that this is an unknown at the moment?

Yes, I wondered about conflicts with existing Orbx scenery especially in the London area.

No conflicts that I can tell, but impossible to pass final judgment without MSFS' data streaming connection back up and working.

Yes, it's not bad but I'm hoping this will be better.

No, it's not a 'hero POI'.

People's expectations are way too high for £10.
More than 700 POIs to turn weird-shaped autogen buildings into ones that look realistic from 1,000 feet is a bargain to me.

The alternative is the slightly melted/not quite right shaped and blue-tinged look that the ripped freeware Google Map assets give you. Or nothing, because the freeware don't exist.

I know what I prefer.

Seems like they’ve been removed as apparently they were just a guide for testing and not very accurate or something.

Did anyone download the KML file before it went?

Is the Cerne Abbas giant included in the list of monumental erections?

Nice one!

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

I would have been tempted twelve months ago - but with some of the negative comments from the ORBX forums and the release of 2024 its a firm no from me, imo its a lot of money to spend which will potentially be made redundant within the year.

if however 2024 fails to deliver on expectations then maybe I'll reconsider a purchase at a likely reduced cost.

This is already in MSFS as it is included in the satellite mapping.  According to my wife, it is a little fuzzy close up, but not too bad.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

It's not accurate and some people got upset their favourite POI was listed, but not modelled. It is helpful if used as a guide as to what *may* be present.

Until/if Orbx released a corrected map, it saves aimlessly flying around a large area in the hopes of seeing a POI–some of which can be difficult to spot!

Maybe they will add even more POI models in the future? You can never have enough castles and bridges

Sorry I meant the file had been removed from the orbx forum but someone posted it above so I’ve got it now.

It Looks great and I can’t wait to get it on console.
