Now he's an "expert" on a plane he still can't fly cause not type rated for it and only type rated for a widebody with different performance etc. Confirmed Monday or Tuesday he will test. One day they're in Spain flying a 787, the next in Peru flying an A320... etc etc He’s type rated on both a B787 and an A320? What else? Which company is this he works for?

I can't say it has any game-breaking (edit) issues, however personally I still prefer the FBW for the sounds (during taxiing this one sounds more "hollow", especially when simulating concrete irregularities) and the general look of the cockpit (more realistic button and surface textures on the A32NX IMHO). Performance seems OK. Only it's annoying that it does not import the full flight plan from Simbrief and one has to insert waypoints and airways manually in the FMC. I was checking XP72 video and he does the same. Let's see if WE manage to get the RNAV08 approach at LOWI right 🙂 For now it's managing a brutal sidewind above Germany without issues. How do you get the Traffic displayed at "even" numbers on the ND? No matter what plane i fly, my traffic is always shown like "+43", "-27" and so on. Like they fly on their own altimeter setting. Sorry, do not see it in the league of high fidelity addons in combination that we have already good other A320s. Maybe if IniBuilds make a hell of an addon out of it, but thats not the case currently. November 19, 20232 yr When they fix the T/D and VNAV calculations, this will probably replace the FBW for me. Apparently this build is not the current build, Which isn't surprising, that's how testing works. Edited November 19, 20232 yr by Tuskin38

Firstly thanks for your thoughts throughout your post 🙂 Secondly (and you're not the only one to comment on performance) this seems to be an area that iniBuilds struggle with throughout their entire catalogue, be it Aircraft or Airports. I won't go into the semantics & possibilities in this thread about it, but there does seem to be a trend developing with them and this area. Anyway back to the aircraft itself, whilst it's not entirely my cup of tea I'll be sure to try it out when the Public update comes along with this included. The ini addon has: - a correct glare shield - Dual MCDUS, - Full RNAV approaches - (I think Missed Approaches, but I can't verify). None of these the FBW have, and are areas I think the ini exceeds the FBW. So I am curious given this why you wouldn't create a profile for it?

November 19, 20232 yr And this is what he said about A320:- As you all know by now, we bounce around from type to type a lot, but after a few straight days of flying patterns, approaches, maneuvers in a 1986 IA-1124A, jumping right into an Airbus is wild. Bob and I each looked at each other on the climb in the A320 and said: “*******, this isn’t even piloting!” It’s really not. The contrast between the two experiences in the space of an hour is truly something else. Being completely honest here, piloting an Airbus is not truly piloting. It’s so unbelievably easy and stress-free, which is a great thing in some respects, is also frightening when you think about the fact that ANY modern airliner can require the same sort of flying skills when the 💩 hits the fan! I realize an 80’s era jet isn’t exactly accessible to most bus drivers, but I strongly encourage you all to get checked out on a GA aircraft locally and try to make time to buzz around town a few times a year with a 6-pack and no moving maps. I promise - it’s not only good for you, but it’s fun as hell and will remind you why you got into this in the first place! Long-live the steam gauges!
November 19, 20232 yr https://airlinegeeks.com/2022/02/08/opinion-automating-away-basic-airmanship/ And this was my argument yesterday. I never said the A320 was unsafe. I said it breeds complacency. It applies to any modern jet airliner. I just personally think the A320 is all button pushing. Edited November 19, 20232 yr by Ianrivaldosmith

Then the huge amount of training shows off. In normal procedures, yes, the Airbus is relaxing and has a very low workload. But when something goes wrong, I'd rather be flying a 737, because you don't suddenly have to completely switch all your flying patterns because things are quite diffently in another "law" (i.e. suddenly having to manually trim on an Airbus). That said I consider the Airbus "safer" in a statistical way because the pilot's just can't mess up that much on their own. E.g. something like the Helios ghostflight (the pilots didn't check if pressurization mode selector is set to AUTO [which it wasn't] and became inconscious during the climb out together with everyone else on board) would not be possible on an Airbus. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
