I currently use a laptop with GTX 1650 Ti and Ryzen 5 4600H. Looking to upgrade to a PC in a couple of months. These are the specs I have in mind-

Ryzen 7 7700x
Gigabyte RTX 4070 Eagle OC
32GB DDR5 RAM
1TB SSD
1440p Samsung Odyssey G5 Monitor

Will these specs be enough for me to run X-plane 12 with high graphics settings at a stable 30-40 FPS? (with an aircraft like the Rotate MD-11 at heavy load areas like New York)

There is no one here who can predict fps or performance. Even 2 identical builds will give different results. But specs look ok. 4070 not bad 12gig vram why i got it. Besides by the time you get it 12.1 should be out an we may start seeing some performance gains.

Those specs should be plenty, check out this spreadsheet with several configs, while not having a 7700x it might give you a good idea of what to expect.

thanks for this! 7700x actually is slightly faster than the 5800x 3D given in the benchmarks so it gave me a good idea of what I can expect.

@mjrhealth the main concern for me is that while doing events like cross the pond on VATSIM, I don't want X-Plane's fps to start dipping during final approach into a busy airport and X-Pilot disconnecting me from VATSIM as a result. I know a 4070 will perform good enough in MSFS due to availability of Frame Gen but I was worried about the 4070 not being able to hold up well in X-Plane 12 during high load situations.

It’ll be fine.

Any system will likely have drops if there’s significant quantities of things being rendered in via an online network. I.e. you won’t be able to avoid that with even the top performing systems. There will be an fps impact, regardless.
