Ongoing issues with controls

Hi, I am using a Logitech yoke & throttle with an additional throttle quadrant but am having all sorts of issues getting precise or reliable control and I wondered if anyone else had similar problems?

When I calibrate the device ms in Windows 11x, they all appear to work correctly. I tend to use FSUIPC7 but even when I use NSFS default controls inside the sim, I get problems.

the issues are mainly with the throttle ms, reverse thrust or spoiler in that the sim controls are jumping around or my external move are not initially detected in game. The spoiler, especially seems to flicker in movement rather than stay set. This is especially common in the PMDG 737.

The Pegasus become so bad that I thought my hardware was faulty but when I calibrate in FSUIPC without the sim running, they are detected perfectly. When I calibrate with MSFS running, it’s like the calibration numbers are all over the place and never hit the minimum/maximums.

I am really confused as to what is going on and I am spending more time working on control settings than actually flying

Hi,

I have Logitech yoke & throttle with an additional throttle quadrant, Thrustmaster TCA throttle and yoke and Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog throttles and stick all hooked up all the time and all controlled by FSUIPC.

It sounds like you have devices using MSFS controls as well as FSUIPC and they are conflicting with one another.

That is my thought too. When you are using FSUIPC for your controllers you must use an empty profile in MSFS otherwise they will fight for control.

I use a clear profile in MSFS so the controls are only configured in FSUIPC.

Anything that is setup in FSUIPC is therefore not set in MSFS.

I do have an alternative profile in MSFS that has everything configured when I want to test in game controls only or to check behaviour against the FSUIPC profile. 
 

I almost replaced some of the Logitech kit as I was sure it was faulty until I was able to see it was working correctly in Windows

How old is that Logitech kit? It uses conventional potmeters which can become jittery with age. FSUIPC should show that though since then you should see the values change when not moving the levers.
Another thing that might cause this is when another controller has the same assignment (like both being assigned to the spoiler axis). Or one device controls the spoiler axis while another has a switch assigned to the spoiler. Switches give a continues signal so they will interfere with a duplicate assignment.

Thanks all. I have done some more testing and it would appear that the pots may be faulty. They are intermittent so seem to test correctly one time but are then jittery another time. 
 

I will do some more testing but feel like I am getting closer to the problem

Get controls with hall effect ICs like the Thrustmaster T 16000M. No more noise problems, ever.

I have had that throttle quadrant and yoke, as well as other Saitek gear (now part of the Logitech brand). The throttle quadrant gradually stopped working reliably like yours, with noisy and jittery axis output, and the rest of my Saitek gear also developed issues after just a few years of use. In my experience their build quality is relatively poor, and I no longer own any of their stuff.

I tried a brand new throttle quadrant and it calibrated even worse than my old one. That is definitely the death for my Logitech controllers.

Now I will have to begin looking for something new for the whole kit, but middle range prices as I wasn’t expecting to have to replace the lot
