Indeed! All movies pale in comparison to Empire.

I enjoyed the Part 1 film (correct what was said above about pacing though; it was in effect half a film 😄 ).

Looking forward to seeing Part 2.

As for this expansion; not interested, but if some enjoy it, good for them!  We're all in it for what our own idea of fun is. Whether than be programming a FMC, or buzzing around Arrakis in the Ornithopter.

Not starring, but Sting had a part yes. I don't think a film could ever live up to the book, or rather the imagination that the book invokes in the reader

 

P.S. To this day, whenever I don my camelback when out for a ride, my partner always makes a comment on "the Fremen way"😁

That's if the film even tries to be like the book, or instead "subverts expectations" which I always see as a code phrase for the producers wanting to do their own thing on some unwitting studios dime, instead of actually creating a recognizable translation of the source material....

Wheel of Time and others come to mind.

TBF the book has way too much going on to make into a film that could be watched in just a couple of sittings and a TV series would probably ruin it, though I always thought the TV adaption of the Stand did the book Justice which was no mean feat for such a Tome.

this is just what VR was made for. I don't think I would use this at all in 2D, but in VR this is something else, similar to the Kayak VR game. the flight model is super-hard-core-study-level realistic. 🤣

flying an IFR approach at zero visibility is a peace of cake compared to this. haven't managed to land a single time on the landing pad. the VR immersion is 200 % though, better than the movie can ever be!

He also said that he Andrey tried his best to portray *a realistic rendition of it* but it quite difficult because it is also based on Orherworldly TECH that is FAAAAR away in the future 😅

🤩 so if the Flightmodel for this Dune-thing is Good , we know what to expect going forwards.. 

I'm NOT a movie-guy, but I and my brother played this DUNE-2 strategy-game back in the day on PC. 😀 I know all about crafts/vessels of House Attreides and Harkonnen 😂😂👍

So I'm almost tempted to try.. 😅 in VR..

you'll love it. this is meant to be played in VR, and in VR only. this feels like being IN and PART OF the movie. supernatural extra galactic worlds, large scale, caves, sand storms, all new flight model, everything you need to enjoy VR is here. I was getting somewhat bored with my study-level-hard core-realistic LPV-VNAV-RNAV-GPS-ILS approaches day in, day out. this will entertain me from time to time until MSFS 2024.

this is the professional business attitude: develop products for the whole market, not just for what you might prefer yourself. today's markets are more segmented. Joerg Neumann understands this better than some.

As did I! Ah, how many times did the spice harvesters succumb to those sand worms... Looking at wikipedia, the game was released in 1992 on MS-DOS 😅

Totally wonderful book. Laughable original film, but then a book like this requires imagination, not celluloid (actually, pretty much all books do - LOTR came close in feel and characterisation but was too focussed on all the battle scenes). Nice idea for MSFS, and I'll certainly give it a try.

(and if you've only ever read the original Dune book, but enjoyed it, pretty much all the sequels following the original are worth reading too)

Ahhh Good times 😁 back in my Youth, at the time it was more Fun watching the elder brother play them, than me mess about myself😂

But Westwood *did start* the Strategy-era for me! 😊 they also did the C&C and old world of warcraft 1 & 2 which is now a MMO type only game 😯 not my type game.. heh.. 😅  I also played C&C Generals a looooong time heh.. I almost prefered that game! 😁
