February 15, 20242 yr Having been super-frustrated with download speeds (updates, marketplace, content manager) I decided to do a little bit of research. Using a VPN (in my case Proton), download speeds in the content manager increased from 0-1Mbit/s up to a whooping 130Mbit/s. The trick was to try different VPN locations. Using the closest location the improvement was miniscule. Selecting e.g. Australia (I live in Europe) and the download speeds sky-rocketed. I guess it depends on a number of factors e.g. time of day. Choosing a VPN location where it's the middle of the night might make sense as very few users will be active. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

February 15, 20242 yr This is a known fact and makes the whole thing even more embarrasing to devs obviously unable to solve it since months... Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
February 15, 20242 yr Last Q&A they touched on this subject but no clue when things would get sorted, not a great look and certainly needs to be improved (long) before MSFS2024 releases. February 20, 20242 yr It's a shame that a totally online flight sim is depending by so ridiculously low download speeds, not to mention the numerous disconnecting problems when you are in flight. And many people are saying that isn't an Asobo\MS fault. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

I try the free version but it wasn't faster than MS 😄 System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
February 20, 20242 yr Sometimes a VPN doesn’t even help. Don’t think the cost or provider makes a difference.

February 20, 20242 yr Express VPN fixes this. Fastest of them all (see reviews). They have a trial/money back. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
February 24, 20242 yr Author Just an update to this thread. When reinstalling the A310 today (3.37GB), I started the download without VPN and got around 3 Mbits/s. I then used Proton VPN to connect to Seattle - check the results below. The difference in download time is massive! No VPN: 3 Mbit/s => 3.37GB would take 2 hrs 29 mins VPN (Seattle): 210 Mbit/s => 3.37GB would take 2 min 8 sec I then downloaded World Update XV Nordics: No VPN: 3 Mbit/s => 7.60GB would take 5 hrs 37 mins VPN (Canada): 300 Mbit/s => 7.60GB would take 3 min 22 sec I used this calculator. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
