Strange new issue

Anyone ever seen this where the darker satellite imagery is loading in just under the aircraft?

 Hi Gary…

Yes….this has been and continues to happen, in all its iterations for a while now. It is growing all over the globe.

It is atrocious, and kills the joy and exhilaration that MSFS once gave.

This must be fixed as it destroys the immersion which is so attractive to all of us.

Yes. I believe it's how MSFS loads 'more detailed' tiles of ground textures. That is, the further away something is, the lower the resolution of the loaded tiles. if there are differences in the coloration of the Bing maps' tiles between two different resolutions, the more detailed tiles will reflect that as 'change in coloration'. The fact is that this is nothing new. This system of loading tiles was present all the way back to at least FS2004, and likely before (but I didn't use those so I have no idea). Conversely, I have found in South Korea that highres tiles actually don't exist at all, so in a defined radius under my aircraft I will see default 'offline' textures popping in, with lowres satellite imagery from Bing maps farther away. I don't think there is anything that can be done about it accept for Bing maps' data or the Azure system that processes it for MSFS to have better cross-coloration.

I now use Google map Enhancement with photogrammetry turned off that definitely solves the problem. Even when using REX AccuSeason Advanced Edition with Terrain Coloring. I am so happy with the result.

Is this a bings maps textures update worldwide? if this is the case, the results are horrendous, the updated textures are of lower resolution in many areas and not in sync with the houses or buildings on the ground in several areas. The new colors also don't blend well with other areas, this is the case of the area I fly the most, my country, Ecuador. Previous textures, even if outdated, were nicer, crispier and with better colors. Btw, I'm not planning to use the google maps utility.

Can anyone please confirm if this is the case?

Try using the MSFS Map Enhancement Mod, it also now cache's the photogrammetry which helps with stutters etc. There are several maps including Google, I currently use the Bing Latest ( the ones in MSFS are older): https://flightsim.to/file/19345/msfs-2020-google-map-replacement

I have a 3060 and along with the Frame Gen and DynamicLOD Mods I'm getting between 50 to 70 FPS, depending on where I'm flying and the maps look great.
