Major performance deterioration at altitude over Europe?

Featured Replies

I rarely fly in central Europe due to exactly this issue. As soon as I get east of EHAM (sounds like a movie title!) I get severe stuttering and poor FPS. The worst part is that the performance never really recovers after that, even if in overflying to somewhere empty like the Gulf (Although maybe SU15 solved this particular degradation - I haven’t checked yet)

i recall flying a lot to EDDK early on without such big issues. I first noticed it after the Germany WU, and it still plagues me to this day even on a 7800X3D/4090.

You mention the Germany WU, so maybe this is something to test - do people also get the performance degradation without this WU?

I do not get performance degradation when I disable PG. I think this says it all.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

A potential other culprit, maybe not though.  Could AI traffic be causing this? Buildup of busy areas, potentially ground traffic at gates being loaded in at multiple airports while you are in the cruise.  Think of all the traffic on the ground around say a place like Paris.

I’m thinking this most likely plays a part, especially with high AI traffic. Using FSLTL, the skies over Europe are absolutely crowded with AI contrails.

I dont think so. I have this in the MD80, Fenix.  The issue gets worse with altitude here.

Strange that we are few?

Could it be the server in Europe causing this I wonder?

I have been flying all over Europe for months now and never have any problems, I am connected to the East USA server as I am in Canada. Currently at FL350 in the Fenix V2 approaching TOD into Malaga, it has been smooth sailing all the way.

Same thing for me. It started when the dune came out. I removed and installed drivers, reinstalled the system, and still the same...

Hey guys, I had exactly the same issue. Everything was fine during takeoff and climb, but once I reached cruise altitude, my FPS dropped to around 50. Both CPU and GPU usage were very low, even with TLOD set to 150. Interestingly, as soon as I started the descent, performance improved again, I gained about 30 FPS, even while using an airport addon in Antalya.

My flight was from Zurich to Antalya, using the iFly 737 MAX.
Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 4070, 32GB 3200MHz RAM.

Thanks that makes some sense except that I've had so many flights over Europe without this, so therein lies the puzzle.  But maybe their servers or are more impacted now than in the recent past.  I will just plan on leaving PG off then while flying in this area.

Cheers and thanks again!

Hi. Seeing this to and it is extreme above Netherlands and Belgium Germany up to Cologne and less but still worden enough above the rest of mid Europe.

And if this are the servers then MS should do something about it because it should not be necessary to turn of features because of server load.

For me this no longer applies I'm having no issues over that part of Europe and haven't for quite a while now.  Oh it's a demanding area for certain but performance is generally very good now.
