March 22, 20242 yr I'm in on day one. Unless they decide to release it during boating season in which case I'll get it as soon as the weather cools. The only question for me is about the drive it'll be going on. I usually buy a new hard drive for a new flight sim, but the 2TB one I bought for MSFS still has 1.1TB of free space. I'm still deciding if I want to make a new top level folder for FS2024, or add another new drive. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

I was very excited for MSFS 2020, because it was revolutionary. 2024 is not revolutionary like MSFS 2020 was compared to P3D and XPL, it's just a major sim update if you will. On top of that I have all I need now in MSFS and on the release of MSFS 2024 it's likely nothing will be compatible until days/weeks/months after, so why would I be excited for the release of MSFS 2024? Curious, yes, but not excited in as hitting F5 on release day until it's out. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
March 22, 20242 yr In in on day one just like every other release since 1985. Although at that time I had to physically go to the store and wait in line. For the sake of reality, I am sure there will be teething problems, but I hope that devs have a long enough time before final release that they can have most of their products almost ready within weeks or a month or two of release. A reason this version was done, is the rewrite for things that are not really feasible right now. I expect it to be a pretty significant step forward. On the dream side of things, I would like to see a big surprise of a whole new simulation within the 'Flight simulation'' world. Like the ocean and lakes having a complex hydro dynamics for a realistic ship simulation. Ships are there now, but there really isnt a proper interaction with ships and boats. Of course this would have to run separate in the sim, and 'turn off' the flight sim world otherwise we might end up with 2 FPS. It would also mean another dedicated team, and thats just a whole lot more resources needed. Maybe flight sim 2032 would be more realistic. Then we will have both flight sim world, ship sim world and train sim world all in one interacting with each other lol. March 22, 20242 yr I can definitely see problems if anyone has both 2020 and 2024 installed at the same time, we just have to look back how many times Asobo have introduced problems when updates are launched, even though we currently only have one MS flight sim installed, Asobo are a bit of an enigma, as devs they can be imaginative and brilliant in what they develop, while another time, you'd think that they're a bunch of noobs in their chosen profession. Well, to be fair... The primary problem with that was that MSFS kept pointing at a different folder than where the users had their sim installed by default, and people weren't noticing that before hitting install so they ended up with 2 installations. That bit me one time. After that, I paid attention to where it was installing and I never had any other issues ever again. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
March 22, 20242 yr Ok let's be real here. When was the last time Asobo put out a Sim or World update (final release!) that was truly game breaking? Personally, I don't count the Watermask-Gate as one because our planes could still fly just fine and it wasn't something that took them off guard anyway. It was fixed a month later with the new method and the northern Caribbean looks better than it ever did. Speaking of which, part of the Caribbean WU was a mandatory update and I don't remember the servers melting like they did for SU14. The launch of SU15 will be the true test tho lol. As I said before, 2024's launch is not going to be like 2020's. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

March 22, 20242 yr This thread shows once again that there're two kinds of people here, those believe to the word "Jorg"'s and by "Seb"'s narrative and those who believe only what they can touch. March 22, 20242 yr Don't get me wrong I love MSFS and flight simulation in general. However sometimes Asobo sometimes even manage to mess up simple things like the recent Full screen update error for both Beta users and stable sim users, while not sim breaking, how can they make basic errors in coding like this? Haha I remember that. The good thing is that they now have a better handle on taking feedback from the public betas and are even willing to delay full launches until things are working properly. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. Yes that is pretty amazing, though I still want to see the responses once it comes out. I am sure things and kinks will be worked out as they usually are, but with all the new bells and whistles I just feel there will be plenty of kinks happening. Rest assured, it will have a placement in my hangar whether early or late and I do like the new weather effects big time. 😎👍 Regards,Pivoti9-10900k * 64Gb Ram * MSI RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio * Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless Headset * Win11 Home x64 * Beam ET * TM Warthog Combo, Honeycomb Alpha & Saitek Pro-Rudders

Perhaps you're only going by the initial trailer that MS/Asobo dropped, and if you haven't already, watch and read these: Jorg+Seb presentation at FSExpo on MSFS 2024 core sim improvements: https://youtu.be/VPhScg_FINE?t=507https://msfsaddons.com/2023/06/25/exclusive-interview-with-jorg-neumann-and-sebastian-wloch-we-are-in-the-pursuit-of-the-perfect-sim/https://www.helisimmer.com/interview/msfs-2024-helicopters-future-msfs-2020 lwt you are correct in your assumption regarding the original video released but I also see the bumps in the road with 2020 too like how the water masks just disappeared recently due to an update. Thank you very much on the link as that was a VERY inspiring read 👍👍.. I will reiterate a previous comment to another forum patron, this will have a permanent hangar in my system, just want to see how it goes first.. If there is major issues with crashes, textures, stutters and we will need to wait for several patches or hotfixes. 2. Addon compatibility. I think sceneries will be compatible almost from the get-go. Aircraft may take up to a 3-6 months ( just a ballpark figure) for people who have top-end systems( like myself) , i don't think sim performance will be an issue. i would say within 6 months MSFS20204 will be the dominant sim.
