AI traffic landing and taking-off in the good way!

Featured Replies

I have come to the conclusion that, at least in my case, to enjoy a good immersion in MSFS, one of the most important things is that the airports have air traffic very similar to real time, and that the procedures have sanity. Both in the taxiout and the taxi in.

It would be wonderful if Asobo designed a small application so that users could choose which runway any plane lands or takes off on. I say this because it often happens that you are going to take off on a runway, and you find that the rest of the planes take off in the opposite direction.

With aiflow and fsltl it has been achieved that, at least, the approaches make sense, and resemble real life, since many times planes do not necessarily land against the wind.

With aiground the planes can do what I ask, but taxi out is still rare and when, for example, two planes meet head-to-head, they are not managed and one of them disappears. They also have a very slow taxiing with strange stops. His developer is doing extraordinary jobs.

But...Asobo: wouldn't it be simpler if with one click we could decide the direction of the planes or of the surface wind, imitating what is happening at that moment in real life?

That immersion is priceless. But since Asobo is very busy and his wishlist is huge, my question is...

Is there a computer genius out there who can make that little "click"? i can pay! hahaaah
thank you!

Microsoft and ASOBO have commited to a reworked AI System and are already using external developers to help them, so my guess is that we will see changes in the next SimUpdates already or as soon as MSFS2024 will drop.

I have not even activated AI planes yet, and I get the feeling that it would better to wait until the entire AI system has been fixed. AI planes that do not even land and depart on the correct runways would be a waste of processing power on my PC.

I use PF3 for ATC, and it will not  let you take off on a runway that has traffic going in the opposite direction.

Same like pilot2atc

RealTraffic and PSXT is the way to go if you are looking for real live traffic. Yes, it cost a bit subscription, but still reasonable for what you get.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

I use PF3, have my runways set correctly in the MSFS PF3 Database for Landings and Arrivals with Certain runways closed for takeoffs, others closed for landings and AI not only ignores all of it but I do also get AI leaving from 22R as I am leaving from 4L.

From what I can tell PF3 doesn't control AI...   I am using AIG by the way...

Only took them 4 years to start fixing AI, lol. What are you guys helping them with, Kai? Can you say, or nah?

But don't you need to subscribe to the data source for $12/month ?

FSLTL does not recommend using Aiflow with their product according to their Discord site.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

AI traffic is more trouble that it’s worth. After a long flight the last thing I want is a plane landing on the opposite end of the runway I’m using, which is quite a regular occurrence.

I now use FSLTL to spawn traffic at the gates so I don’t feel lonely but I have the IFR traffic set to almost zero.
