DX10 Preview?

Recommended Posts

Guest pdxbulldog

Ok, need some info and advice. I have a system running XP home with an 8800GTX - and installed acceleration. Got the opaque window problem in the VC with a lot of planes. Have read that this is becuase of the DX10 "preview". This confuses me. I have XP, not Vista - didn't think that DX10 would even work. Have been advised on the Eaglesoft forum that Acceleration runs fine in DX9C. So, how do I disable this unwanted "preview" - just reinstall 9c?Thanks for the help folks. Colin in Portland

Since you are running XP, you don't have DX10.There is nothing to disable. Your problem is theway the textures are formatted in 3rd party aircraft. You might mention which aircraft you are having trouble with. Some folks have been able to fix this issue in some planes.

I don't have any experience in repainting. Is this as simple as copying a Vcrain*.bmp from my FS9 installation into the affected airplane's texture file and replacing the one in the FSX install? I don't really understand alpha channels etc. as referenced in the techniques in Phil's blogs. Thanks. Colin

It's my understanding that those files, copied over to the /Texture folder of your FSX installation, should correct the issue.Always make a backup of your original FSX files before replacing. Always.

Great, I'll try it tonight when I get home. I wish the folks at Eaglesoft were as direct in their support. Colin
