Spacebar + mousewheel = zoom?

I read in another post somewhere that using the spacebar + mousewheel will zoom in and out instead of using backspace + + or-.Doesn't work for me.Is it possible?Thanks,Ron

HiThat's the way it works for me. It may be that some control element has been changed in your settings. You might try going back to settings > controls and select the "reset Defaults" option to see if that fixes it. It should work as you describe.Loyd

Make sure you hold the spacebar down while scrolling your mouse wheel. You can also use your mouse like a hat switch using the same technique.

I've done that.I hold the spacebar down and use mouse wheel nothing happens.This is supposed to do the same as backspace + or -? Thanks.Ron

This is called "Mouse-View" in the control settings, make sure this is set to be your space bar. Yes, scroll wheel's effect is the same as using the - and + keys, but the the panning view with the mouse is the real gem, I use it constantly, and have even been able to set a button on my Yoke to work this using FSUIPC.

The easy way is to press Shift+O to enable the mouse view, you can then pan,tilt,zoom etc.

Mine works that way too. I also set my 4th mouse button so I can pan around when I don't need the zoom.

How do you assign the mouse buttons in FSX?I've tried and it doesn't seem to recognize them.I posted at FSUIPC and Pete said it does not have anything to do with the mouse.I have 5 button mouse.Thanks,Ron

You dont need to assign them, just press Shift+O and the mouse view is enabled, move it to pan/tilt and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, I call it the 'Poor Man's TrackIR' :-)

OK,I've got that working.When I go to controls I have my ch yoke and pedals listed.Also I have a mouse yoke and a mouse look.What are these?If I click on one or the other and try to assign something to it nothing happens.Ron

Again, you dont need to assign anything, simply do into FS, jump in your plane, go to 3D cockpit or Spot view, press Shift+O, and move your mouse, your view will pan and tilt, then roll the scroll wheel to zoom.

I have it working fine.It's amazing what I learn in these forums.But,I still haven't found a way to assign the extra buttons on my mouse to FS functions.Is there a way to do this?I know I can assign my TrackIR center and pause to it but I don't need that.Thanks,Ron
