Hard to remember exactly, but I believe the E145 had a cursor on the MFD that you could select a point on the map and the FMS would insert it into the flight plan. It was handy when deviating around storms: you could just click a point 20nm away from the cell and the FMS would fly around the weather in NAV mode.
April 28, 20242 yr I am trying to find a general purpose flight planning app that has these kindof features. And this one is inside the actual aircraft! Impressive. Where is the flight planner with sids, stars and approaches that is neither Navigraph or LittleNavMap? http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

For usa flying you can use skyvector... you wont get tons of details like if you were to pay for NG. But you get what you pay for. Skyvector also has charts for USA for free. Right click an airport and click PLAN to add it your route and then hover over the popup menu to see charts and procedures. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
